Open Question: Would this annoy you as much as it does me?

I'm 12 yrs old, and have a twin sister that i live with, but havent talked to in like 2 years, for lots of reasons. Anyway, im the one that knows how do dress cute, and am obsessed with clothes and shoes,etc. Shes the one that claims to like shoes but wears tennis shoes with everything and layers shirts.(I know some teenage girls layer their shirts like that, but she doesnt know how to make it look good.) OK, so ANYWAYS, here's my point; she copies me with EVERYTHING. Like, i have sidebangs, now she gets sidebangs. I wear converse, she wants converse. I wear skinny jeans, she wants skinny jeans. She used to claim to hate boy bands like Boys Like Girls, and thats all i listen to, and now she loves them?? When girls don't put out!! This was written by a guy...it's pretty damn smart. Girls -- Please have a sense of humor! I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart. FOR EXAMPLE: One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, 'I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me.' I said, 'WHAT??!! What was that?!' So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear... 'You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.' She responded to my puzzled look by saying, 'Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?' Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, 'I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier.' I've always been a tomboy and I want to change myself. I'm not going to be fake or anything. I'm 12 and I haven't had a boyfriend (My Mom knows I have a Yahoo!). So I know I'm not going into the next grade until September but last year I was going to do the same thing starting in Summer but I didn't want to be fake. It takes some time to change so I'm starting now. I wear glasses and I'm a tomboy. I'm getting contacts so that fixes that problem but I'm still a tomboy. So I'm going to try to stop but I might play soccer next year. I'm going to do different hairstyles, I'm going to start wearing good clothing. Without promotion of sport through the media there would be no new young talent coming through and the sport would become boring and people would loose interest in it. Media has a large impact on games and often games will often be revolved around add breaks. Ever since sport has been broadcast on television games have been changed to attract a wider audience, like one day cricket for example was formed in 1977 because of the media influence to attract a wider audience. A quote from the editor of, the economist (20 July 1996) “The lure of money is already altering sport and will change it more. Increasingly games will be reorganised to turn them into better television.”(p 367). The Medias involvement in sport is constantly becoming more important. Sports relationship with the media started out small but become much closer with advancement in technology. Ever since the media has become involved in sport it has rapidly become a very profitable business. Sport was first introduced into the media in 1956 but had a minimal affect due to lack of communication tools and technology. Then in the 1970’s with the development of technology sport had another go with the world cricket series being televised for the first time to a television audience of 1 million people, from then on the relationship between sport and the media blossomed and were then inextricably linked. Quote Jacques Marchand (1994) “At the start, the marriage of sport and the media was a love match. It later became a marriage of convenience and today, with the advent of [global] television, it has become, in addition, a marriage based on money.” (p 367) Since the beginning of sport it has been male dominated and it is only really in the past couple of years women have started to gain some recognition. The messages the media send about women and women’s sport have a large influence on how female athletes and sports are accepted in society. Women have come a long way in sports from only being able to view sporting events if they were unmarried virgins or prostitutes to now being able to participate and compete in almost every kind of sport, but they still get almost no recognition whatsoever. Women often have to pose either nude or in bikinis due to lack of coverage and promotion. For example in 2000 to gain media publicity, the Australian soccer team had to pose nude in a calendar shoot. In the courier mail on the 12 of November 2008 there were only three news articles on women’s sport out of the thirty eight sport articles there. One of the articles was about tennis player Daniela Hantuchova here is the article I have highlighted the parts I believe that women in sport constantly have to endure (pass it around the room) look at the bottom of that one it says. “Hantuchova has sustained her carrier well after many years in which a battle to keep weight on her thin 181cm frame was closely monitored by the international media.” That is an example of the media controlling how sporting women look. The last time a female was on the front page of a news paper or featured on the news was during the Olympics, but still it was images of the girls wearing their tight swim suits or other tight clothes and only featured the attractive girls, yet another example of sexism. The other articles are about the Firebirds net ball team and it mainly spoke about re-signing Tasmin greenway the “English stunner” the article was alright but focused on her looks, And the other article was about the sports stars of the year with a tiny space in the bottom of the page and a photo of Stephanie Rice even though the actual article mentioned her once and was mainly about men. The media have so much control they can do almost anything they like, for example with the women’s beach volleyball they have changed the design of outfits to tiny bikinis, and use many different camera angles to let guys have a “perve” when the girls go to serve, there is a nice close up of their bums. I am the youngest of four children in my family, which has had advantages and disadvantages throughout my childhood. All 3 of my siblings have amazing talents, which were inspirational, but sometimes made me feel inadequate because I believed I didn’t match up to their abilities. My oldest sister received almost perfect grades throughout high school, winning numerous awards and graduating at the top of her class at law school. My brother excelled at every sport he played, in all honors and even became an eagle scout. My other sister, who is 17 months older than me, is an incredible swimmer who broke 2 high school records, was all-state and is swimming on a division l team in college. We both started swimming together 10 years ago but I just didn’t have the same talent. My father even coached me at soccer and basketball but I didn‘t enjoy the sports enough to pursue them throughout high school. Tennis has always been the sport I love to play, but I don’t have the talent to pursue it past a high school level team. I devoted my time to schoolwork but never achieved the grades my siblings did. I began to think that the brains and talent ran out by the fourth child. The one thing I never got tired of was shopping. My family would joke that my sister was the Olympic swimmer and I’m the “Olympic Shopper”. Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for fashion. I loved spending hours at the mall and would spend all my money on clothes. When I was younger I wanted to look like all the other girls in school and the women in magazines. I shopped at all the typical mall stores and thought I looked great. I thought the more clothes I had the more fashionable I would be. My parents thought I showed a talent with it and encouraged me to chase after what I love, and so I did. But after a few large shopping trips they told me they were only going to give me a set amount of money for clothes for school. I was in a panic! How could I possibly buy what I needed with what they were giving me? Have they seen the price tags at Abercrombie & Fitch? When I finally realized they were serious I had to rethink my shopping. I went to thrift stores, eBay and Marshalls but still managed to buy a few splurge items. I got a part-time job, to help pay for my shopping sprees. This made me realize how much the clothes really were, and made me only buy what I really wanted. People always found it amazing how I could put clothes together that no one believed would look good, but I made it look stylish. I used my creativity and fashion sense to help me with my outfits, which impressed people all around me. I made my own style and was happier now that I didn’t look like everyone else. Having my own trends in clothing is what makes me unique, and I’m glad I now have my own original style. So many friends came to me for advice on what to wear, and what clothing goes well together. I even helped my sister and her friends with their prom outfits. My mom now asks me to go shopping with her to put attire together and I’ve never been happier helping. My family now thinks of me as creative one in the family. I thought being fashionable was a talent that everyone had, but I soon realized I was lucky to have this gift. Both girls are very pretty, but personally what sounds more attractive? I like girl # 2 better, but that just might be because she’s my best friend I tried not to be biased. Has fair skin, but is tan after she works at the barn. She’s not acne prone, and has a great complexion too. She’s about 5’4, probably will end up around 5’6. She is curvy and has an hourglass shape. Works out at least twice a week and rides horses for fun and competitively (barrel racing and pole bending). She is very shy, and if you don’t know her you might think that she doesn’t like you because she doesn’t talk much. (I thought she didn’t like me at first). Once you get to know her, she’s very outgoing around you and you have a friend for life. You can tell her everything, and trust her not to stab you in the back, even if you do something bad to her. She’s smart and is taking all honors classes this year. She does have a lower self-esteem, but has never let it show. The first time she really let her guard about it down around me was when girl #1 said something about not being able to get a boyfriend to her. She has a laid back style and doesn’t really care if she’s in name brands, she’s happy with a pair of jeans from target and looks good in a cowgirl hat. She’s not really focused on guys, she’s more on making friendships and “If something happens, it happens”. She’s hoping to become a biologist. Also both girls can sing well. The only thing negative about girl #2 is that she's shy and has a low self worth and esteem. She's one of those girls who judges herself. First, i am a GUY and 23. I dress like i am older.....i guess it is because i am pretty "mature". I go out every weekend and i am tired of dressing like i do. lol Bars i usually dress like i usually do, like Cargos, T's, and Flops. Nightclubs: I usually wear nice pair of dark jeans (or slacks) and dress shirts (cuffed and not french cuffed) usually rolled up (it's Florida). Also, do the sport coat, t, and jeans thing. I'm a sophomore in high school and I like this freshman girl. I've known her for about 1-2 weeks and I'm looking forward to get to know her better. We both play tennis and we talk somewhat often. How can I convince my niece that she has an Eating Disorder?? Ive asked this question before. but I feel the need to ask it again. My niece is 13 years old and is turning 14 very soon. She has always been bigger than most girls her age, but since she is very tall, she could carry the weight out. She tried to lose weight every summer. Every year she did better and better but once Summer was over, she went back to her normal eating habits and gained all the weight back. She loved the stores Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister but they didnt fit her the way she wanted them too. So this summer, she was determined to stick to her diet and lose about 10 pounds. Well she's always been a great tennis player, so she was involved in a little tennis camp for about a month or two, and she also took private lessons. She also exercised regulary and ate well. While she was doing this she was staying at her grandmas house because her mom had to work a lot. But after she left her grandmas and went home to her mom, everyone thought she would gain all her weight back. But she stuck to her diet and began running 2 miles for 5 days a week. Then things started getting bad. She stopped eating. She has a little notebook where she writes down EVERYTHING she puts into her mouth. Even if its a little peppermint, she writes it down and counts how many calories she's eaten for the day. Most of the time, it's usually a total of 800 or 900. But in the last few weeks, I've seen it drop down to 400-500. When I visited her today, I wanted to take her shopping for an early birthday gift. She had claimed that all her clothes were too big for her, and that she desperately needed new ones. So we went into A&F and Hollister. She loves their polos, so she tried them on. When she asked me to come in the dressing room and look at the jeans she had also tried on, she lifted up her shirt so I could see them better. I saw something that I had never seen before, and it was ribs. I know this sounds weird, but you could never see any of her rib bones before, and now you can see them. They aren't sticking out, but you can still see them. And when she bent down to pick up the clothes she wanted, I saw her entire spine running down her back. I've also noticed the bones in her face are starting to come out, as well as her chestbones. My sister also claims she's seen many bones sticking out when my niece is like in a towel after she gets out of the shower. Im a little worried that she's losing too much weight. She said she only wanted to lose 10 pounds this year, and clearly, she's lost more. She's also been having heart problems and is being taken to the doctor soon to see if she has the same heart condition as her mother. I think she might have it, or it's just because her body is weak or something. When I asked her what'd she had eaten today, she said "Nothing." When we finally got home about 6:00pm, she ate a low calorie nutriton bar. We literally beg her to eat more, and she refuses. She says if she takes one bite of something, it fills her up like she's eaten a whole meal. She even told my sister that the only way anyone would get her to eat anything unhealthy, or eat anything she didn't want, they'd have to force it down her throat or feed her through a tube. She's obsessed with weight. She always crys because she's so 'fat.' I know for a fact that she has an eating disorder, but she says to my face that she doesn't care! HELP! Before summer, she was 5'7 and 150 pounds. I think she's about 140 or 130 ish. So she's not super thin. more

Sorry that this is so long but I have to get you to understand whatta dilemna I'm in I'm a 16 year old girl, Juinior in high school I get straight A's honor roll. This year is gonna be really hectic and I don't know when I'll have any free time to myself. SO I have to take the PSAT to qualify for some scholarship thing even though I don't want to. Then I have to take the SAT. ALso I'm gonna be taking 4 AP classes. AP Bio, AP English Lit, AP Calc & AP American History. Should I drop one of my Ap's? I have to do Bio b/c I wanna be a nurse. I want to be an accounant also though so should I drop AP calc and take an accounting class as an elective? Technically I don't need to take math any more since I finished Math B in 9th grade but it would look good on my applications to collee and stuff. I feel like my schedule is so jammed pack. I already took AP chem last year and I got a 4. I really like shopping but my mom hasn't been into it as much as me for the last couple of years so i wanna buy my own stuff.
