Resolved Question: Nascar Nation----a trivia question! Can you name this driver?

In 1991 Harry Gant was running very VERY low on fuel. His crew chief was screaming at him over the radio either pit or slow down because they were not going to make it to the finish. You see Gant and his crew chief were gambling trying to steal a win so to speak. They were going to attempt what at the time was thought impossible run 149 miles on one tank of fuel. With 5 laps to go the #33 started to sputter...Gant sighed...he wasn't going to win. But then hope came in another car coming to the rescue! A driver who was a huge Gant fan before he made it to CUP (who by the way was a few laps down) started bumping the #33...Gant would knock it in neutral take a bump, coast awhile and fire it back up. NASCAR rules do not allow any car to assist another on the final lap of a race so with 1 and a half lap to go this driver backed way down and then gave the #33 a bump that nearly wrecked our HERO HARRY....the bump was just enough to get Gant 3 quarters around the track. In turn 4 Gant fired up and chugged and sputtered his way to the finish line. Gant was cleared of any cheating and was allowed to keep the win without being penalized. So can you name this driver who helped his old buddy win??? Can you name the race??? The other car # and sponsor??? Here's a hint he drove an Olds just like Harry! Good luck and have fun with it. I have found more research that says the #33 ran out of fuel at the finish line...this driver then pushed Harry all the way to victory lane and helped him celebrate! Additional clue----the car owners were brothers but operated as separate teams not as one...so Harry and this driver were not considered team mates.  more

Open Question: Can you help...us all out.......we are in a pinch....?

Dear Friend, No one voted on Election Day to hand over Utah's Redrock wilderness to oil companies. But the Bush Administration cynically chose that very day to advance an outrageous plan that will sell off leases for some 160,000 acres of spectacular Utah canyonlands to oil and gas speculators. While America was voting for Barack Obama and his vision of a clean energy future, Bush and Cheney's underlings were conspiring to plunder one of the crown jewels of our natural heritage for their fossil fuel cronies. Please register your own opposition right now: http://www.nrdconline.org/ct/Wp4p8g413PJm/ The auction of Redrock country will take place on December 19. At stake are world-renowned vistas near Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, as well as near Dinosaur National Monument. The highest bidders will earn the right to turn vast tracts of pristine wilderness into industrial wastelands. It's bad enough that Bush officials went behind the backs of the American people with this disastrous scheme. But what's worse, they didn't even tell their own National Park Service until after the fact. In my mind, this theft of our heritage goes beyond the cynical -- it's criminal. What will be left to give to our children and their children if we allow this administration, in a parting shot, to destroy our legacy of public lands for short-term gain? I hope you're as angry as I am about this blatant land grab, because we've got to stop it -- and we have to act fast. The NRDC Action Fund is mobilizing more than one million Americans in an outpouring of protest over the coming days. Send your own message of opposition immediately: http://www.nrdconline.org/ct/Wp4p8g413PJm/ Tell the Bush Administration that you will not allow it to destroy one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We'll automatically send copies of your message to your two senators, your representative and to the Obama transition team, which has signaled their opposition to this disastrous attack on our Redrock heritage. The Bush Administration is racing to complete the auction of our lands before Inauguration Day, which will make sales difficult to reverse. We must fend off this land grab now -- before the oil and gas companies can lay claim to the spoils. Those spoils include stretches of Desolation Canyon, which has been proposed for national park status. Bush's own Interior Department describes the canyon as "a place where a visitor can experience true solitude -- where the forces of nature continue to shape the colorful, rugged landscape." The very idea of oil and gas operations invading these remote sanctuaries -- which have remained untouched for millennia -- is deeply upsetting. Once the dirty deed is done, our wilderness can never be restored. That's why I'm asking you to help us sound the alarm and organize now. Tell the Bush Administration to cancel the Redrock auction: http://www.nrdconline.org/ct/Wp4p8g413PJm/ Remind them that we the people are the rightful owners of this majestic wilderness and that we won't stand for its destruction. And thank you for joining with me and the NRDC Action Fund to save these beautiful wildlands for all future generations. Sincerely, Robert Redford NRDC Action Fund  more

Resolved Question: black and white in Coaching - myth or fact and worse - whats the right answer?

Look I hate the color game but someones response to my last question made me think about it more so Im gonna sound off Look im White not that it matters - and yes I do get aggravated when you do hear ESPN constantly shoving it down your throat the D1 NCAA football is constantly overlooking qualified highly deserving black coaches for white ones........because maybe Im in the minority being white - but you like to think most people are over it - the best guy does get the job - I mean if we can all go and vote for Obama not because he is black or white but because the country as a WHOLE would rather vote for him and the democrats than vote for another republican........you would think NCAA sports would open their eyes and quit playing games since they are the ones paying coaches millions of dollars - they are all so greedy at everything - you would think they wouldnt care what color they are if they can WIN GAMES!!! I will never know what the answer is - you cant FORCE people to HIRE people - and forcing people to interview based on a quota to make people happy is all smoke and mirrors.....as the one with the money PAYING someone else in big 6 div 1 cases usually MILLIONS of dollars I cant for the life of me understand how these idiots with budgets and backers and people to answer to can afford in this day and age 2008 to still be blinded by color? That being said thats what makes the Gene Chizik hire at Auburn makes me the maddest because it completely fuels the fire that NCAA athletics are keeping black people down - Chizik is a loser THUS FAR as a head coach - plan and simple - maybe He was a GREAT coordinator at Auburn and Texas but as a head coach HE sucks - he looks lost and in over his head - and the its not his fault due to talent is lame - all "supposed" good coaches get away with this - First fatty Charlie Weis - and now Chizik -among others - they get paid millions because they are supposed to be the BEST - the best coaches are supposed to be the best because they can get the talent they are given and make them something better- I realize the best coaches want to go to the best programs and get the best recruits - but everyone can coach michael jordan and larry bird in basketball and everyone can coach Joe Montana or Tom Brady in Football Its not that Im favoring Turner Gill but he is the best example to use - No one in the WORLD wanted to coach at buffalo - they were worse than Rutgers for being perrenial losers in NCAA football - I think someone said 7 or 8 years in a row they were UNDERDOGS in EVERY GAME - Gill turns that team around in 3 years and makes them MAC champs - and he doesnt get hired by a BIG 6 school that is absolutely INSANITY - and maybe RACE - but more than that its IGNORANT and STUPID - Chizik or Weis or most coaches in Div 1 couldnt turn around buffalo in 5 years let alone 3 years...... Auburn will continue to dig their own grave with Chizik and the good ole boys network - cus Chizik will forever be a LOSER head coach - because if he was gonna be something good - he would've at least been making strides forward instead of steps back! I guess Im the dumb and naive one to think all NCAA athletics and higher ups want is to WIN but I guess Im WRONG War Eagle to Auburn not finishing .500 next year!!! maybe the fans dont deserve it but the HIGHER UPS They sure DO!!!! Maybe after you FIRE Chizik in a few years you can admit supreme stupidity take off your black colored sunglasses and open your eyes quit being colorblind and maybe you can get the Auburn Tigers back into the top 10 Im not trying to SAY you HAVE to hire a BLACK coach - not at all - but since they ARE black coaches with the talent and have proven track records - if you are going to hire a white coach - please at least make sure you can hold your head high and say the coach you ARE highering has a track record on paper for WINNING at least comparable to if not better than most black coaches....... but there I go again thinking this world is equal or fair.......LOL  more

Open Question: What do you think about my story im working on? (takes place during future IGNORE grammar focus on CONTENT)?

WARNING ADULT LANGUAGE!!!!!.........Please enjoy this is like the "prologue" to the story I've been working on for quiet some time now, just wanna get an idea of what i should or shouldn't do...thanks your opinion matters..:D The year is 2100, mankind abused our planet Earth by littering, destroying and rapid use of fossil fuels. By doing all that mankind melted the earths only fresh water supply right into the ocean, and as if that wasn't enough there was a 10 year war on oil between the western coalition, and the eastern alliances of Russia, and china. The war started in 2075 August 5th...the day I was born...so I grew up a pretty decent life that is until my father left to fight in the war, leaving me with my mom in 2080 when I was only 5 and just started school....As time went on my life got worse and worse the war was all around me not the fight itself but the struggle for it...prices for crude oil sky rocketed to 20 bucks a gallon....riots occurred....people stopped going to school...I felt alone...The war finally ended in 2085 June 20th when both fractions agreed to put all efforts into creating cheap-efficient bio fuels, which in the long run turned out to be a competition on the word "Bio"....From the race to make the most efficient fuel scientists discovered alot about bio fuels they can be used to enhance normal performances proving not to be harmful or toxic at the time....ethanol now the most common fuel is used in most of our cars and only emits harmless water vapor...And for 1.50 a gallon it was a winner....even though that race was over research didn’t stop.....2093 on the day of my graduation they made a discovery that they could manipulate genetic code with these bio engineered products to increase any trait you wish....hearing, speech, and sight....The first tests were on the newly graduated students to let loose a whole new breed of successors they said....till about a year later side effects were realized. Out breaks of these Bio engineered performance enhancing drugs (B.I.E.P.E.D.S) resulted from the first batch……It had a 10% kill rate from these unpredicted mutations, and a 80% mutation rate which turned the host’s of the B.I.E.P.E.D.S into more agile beings able to contort their psychical body shape, darker skin pigmentations, skeletal mutations including longer spines, and bigger jaws, a great taste for cannibalism and increased aggression…….the last 10% of the first batch that I was in instead what was deemed by scientists rapid evolution occurred, where as these hosts had rapid regeneration able to heal a open wound within a minute, increased brain capacity making the few of us smarter, and unpredictable unique abilities such as increased strength and agility beyond measure making the host able to sprint at top speed for hours on end, higher sense of balance and stability making the host able to land on their feet or recover from a fall in a split second amongst this group of people a total of 11,266 dead after the first year all slow and painful…..83,567 mutated into what are known as the infected, offspring of these mutated hosts were known as nibblers who earned their title by consuming their victims slowly but painfully……the evolved hosts were known as Saints being blessed with immeasurable luck says scientists, but the “luck” of the Saints ran short when the Infected began consuming them because they were seen as major threats to their kind…..slowly they picked off the remaining 10,000 Saints devouring them as if they were delegate meals a large portion of the saints ran like hunted cattle all over the world but the Infected didn’t rest till they found and devoured their threats to their species…….so the war of the Saints and infected began on 2095 August 5th on my 20th birthday, The United Nations marine corps (UNMC) ordered all Saints to their nearest Police stations for immediate protection, but few of them trusted the UNMC and fled……their mistake was being to slow to out run the overwhelming force of the infected, the wiser ones…..joined the UNMC for payback of killing all of their friends I and my close friends became very familiar with weapons put in our arms classic Bio-material guns that shot super heated projectiles at blinding speed with deadly accuracy. The enlisted saints formed their own ranks, squads, and codenames some such as mine Yoshi, my best friend John’s Poison Killer, James a good friend of John and I’s Didn’t have a codename he figured he’d be dead before anyone could remember it, Tammy a girl I’ve known since high school, and consider almost as close as a sister, and My step-Brother Adam codename Elite. Our Squad Spartans was deployed at 0600 at a uninhabited forest in southern Africa, the UNMC had suspicions that a infected population was growing and mobilizing for an attack….this is the Video feed of that nightmarish mission… (Transmission will be below) Copyright © 2008 Scrambly transmission feed) This is the Saint resistance squad Number ZERO-ZERO-ONE Delta Codename Spartans over we are currently en route to infected infested jungle in Southern Africa the UNMC is currently posted 20 clicks away from our drop off zone surrounding the Infected hive location with Mark I armor, and M-90 scorcher rifles. (Static) “Affirmative Delta squad this is UNMC Alpha squad we see your bird moving to the drop-off zone we have you Boys covered from the north and will provide immediate EVAC if necessary, stay sharp DELTA, and be aware there have been reports of Some Saint soldier’s being held captive by the infected, a small UNMC platoon left at 0300 to retrieve captive Saints we have lost contact with them….” (Radio static) “Rodger ALPHA, we have reached our stop, LOCK AND LOAD Its payback! ALPHA we will keep you posted on our progress, and thanks for the assistance….” (Radio static) “Don’t thank us until you and your squad make it out in one piece over” (Radio Static ) “OH RAH!”……..The cockpit to our custom designed Pelican opened up Slowly as it hovered some 50 feet from the ground I turned to look at my squad checking to make sure they were battle ready….Poison carried a Vintage class berret .50 calibur sniper rifle, along with standard M-90 scorcher rifle Wearing his custom painted Mark-I UNMC assault suit, James with a Flame thrower, M-90 scorcher rifle, and his little toy a compact buzz-saw wearing the Mark-I suit with custom red flame’s. Adam wearing a Mark-I with bone details along the face mask using M-90 scorcher rifle along with his 2 vintage 7-shooter Revolvers. Tammy with Light reconnaissance armor used Two compact M-87 submachine guns, and a Bio-Injector a needle that can revive downed squadmates within seconds. I was equipped with the standard Mark-I battle armor custom painted black with blue flames, M-90 scorcher rifle with a plasma launcher attached to it, I also had a custom Vintage T-Rex shotgun Loaded with Plasma shrapnel shells , along with a Custom Titanium alloy combat knife with a “widdled” back to cut through flesh easier. I saw that everyone was battle ready, so I gave the order for my squad to drop out…..James went first, we stayed sharp looking out of the cockpit for possible infected grunts ready to ambush us, he stood at the end of the launch, looked down turned back to me and said “You know this is bull-**** man why do I have do go first huh? Why don’t you go first you’re the one with the ******* cannon…..” I admired his comment, and said without hesitation “Because Im more important, and if there was infact an ambush down there it would be better if you go cause we wont care if you come back alive…” He laughed, and looked back down “Fine last one down gets to clean our rifles” then he jumped down with the 50 foot drop, This wasn’t suicide our Mark-I suits could absorb the shock from a 250 foot drop, and let alone because of our abilities we could naturally sustain a drop over 500 feet drop, Elite s stood up without hesitation, and yelled “I’m not cleaning your damn gun Yoshi that thing sucks” and jumped down after James Poison stood up, and said “Go on Yosh I got your six”, I turned to him, and said “The **** you do your aim is worse than mine, and I gave him a small push out the pelican I heard him yell you prick as he fell to the jungle floor, Tammy stood and said “Go ahead, I can clean the rifles, I havnt done that in a while anyways figured its my turn….” I turned to her, and gave her a pat on the shoulder and said “I’m going in first Tammy if there’s infected down there I want you to stay up here till I got the landing cleared 100% got it? And no your not cleaning the guns, I will” she said “No forget that if you do that then I wont be able to shoot something” I pushed her down to the seat, turned to the launch, and Jumped yelling “WOOOO HOOO!!!!” the wind went rushing past my visor as I plunged to the lush jungle floor, I saw Poison just standing up from his landing I yelle yelled “Move it ladies!!!” They quickly moved out of the way, and I landed on “take a knee” stance with my fist at the ground….Poison said “That’s a little over dramatic but I give it a 10” He lets out his hand to help me up grabbed his hand and looked up at him “Ya it was a little over dramatic, but at least I didn’t fall out of the pelican” He snapped “Hey **** you bro you pushed me out!” Elite added “Looks like you fell out happy feet”, I said “Alright that’s enough you guys we have a job to do” James looked back at us and said “Hey yoshi where the **** is your Girlfriend at?” I barked at him “James **** you I told her to stay in the pelican in case there was an ambush”, “Well if there was they would have gotten to my *** by now, seeing as there’s not tell her to get her *** down here!” James yelled. I told him ok, and set up a perimeter I opened up a private comm. Channel to Tammy “Tammy you there over?” (Radio silence)…..”Yes I am, and did you really need to push me?”, “Well jus “Well just because im not one of your asshole boyfriends doesn’t mean I cant push you around…”. “Good point, ok is the LZ clear?”, “Yes it is make the jump” I looked up at the pelican to see Tammy look down at me and say “umm……..do you think the pilot could lower me down a bit?” I laughed on the comm. And said “No Tammy he’s at the safest altitude from infected attacks, and you know that…I PROMISE its an easy drop, like onto a mountain of pillows…” She said “Ok…..but it looks A LOT higher than 50 feet…” “It always does now jump” I saw Tammy jump forward, I watched her rapidly descend to the ground, and slam on impact. I cut off the private comm., and Said “See now was that soo bad?” Tammy looked up and said “No…It was worse” I let out my hand to help her up, she grabbed my hand and pulled herself up. I readied my Scorcher rifle, and told Poison to take up a sniper position on the tree’s, Jame’s to lead, Elite to follow up and cover James, and I told tammy to stay Inbetween Elite and stay Inbetween Elite and I. I was covering our six, and making sure no harm came our way, I saw poison lunge up to a tree and climb it with the imbedded spikes in his gloves designed for excellent grip. James mutter “Why the **** am I always the first guy?” Elite laughed and said “Because the infected like to eat bitches first anyways". Okay well thats my epiclly long prolouge if I get enough answers and people find this at least remotly interesting I will post the "action" part of the prolouge where things get VERY funny and very bloody.....hope you enjoyed!  more

Resolved Question: Why is it Important for the government to bail out big business?

This may just be ignorance however I do not understand it. I just read a question by a top contributor of these questions complaining that he doesn't understand why the government won't provide funds for auto companies in order to bail them out of their possible bankruptcy. The thought of providing these businesses with tax dollars from the American public is insane. In my opinion the auto companies have no one to blame but their own greed and the way they decided to go with their business, the government would not bail out a business that the average American built and used every dime of their personal money to invest into the business, while CEO's of the auto companies STILL are taking in millions of dollars a year and expecting the government (moreover the American people) to basically paying their salaries, when it was the direction they took in their company to blame for the problem they are in now. With exponential growth especially in business comes exponential decline and they should have taken precautions to prevent this from happening. Aside from their bad business decisions these are the same businesses that closed down factories in the United States, which were employing thousands of American workers, to move to China were labor was cheaper. This brought upon record unemployment rates in Detroit. Who in turn need government assistance to be able to provide for their families because they were screwed over by their employer. I understand that their are people who are a drain on society and are wrongfully collecting welfare but aside from those individuals Welfare helps out people WHO HAVE NOTHING and are asking for the governments help to keep a roof over their head. Another point that needs to be addressed in Auto Makers is the money that they received from big oil to not research alternative fuels, even though the impending Global Warming was a huge issue. Which means in a sense they may have screwed over the Human Race by destroying our planet. I don't know I may just be venting but isn't it the ethical for these CEO's to take a money cut for the benefit of their company instead of asking for the governments help, providing that they never seemed to really truly care of the American public? Roads???? read this if you think that our tax dollars even go to roads first off...... http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/11028 Second off the whole idea is the current CEO's of the business still raking in millions from their business, which is failing and asking for government help what happened to darwin and survival of the fittest, does it not pertain to business?  more

Voting Question: Products that are likely to decrease and increase in demand during a downturn in the economy?

HINT HINT HINT It is enough to revive memories of Tom and Barbara happily destroying the serenity of 1970s Surbiton — thousands of homeowners are turning back the years and growing their own fruit and vegetables in an effort to beat the credit crunch. New research claims that one in ten shoppers have followed the example of The Good Life, the ever-popular sitcom, and have dug up the garden in the past six months in an attempt to save money at the supermarket. Around a fifth are walking to the shops rather than using the car; a similar number are shunning prepared meals. Nearly 20 per cent are making their own packed lunch to take to work or cooking smaller meals for dinner. Not quite the flight from the rat race that drove the Goods’ switch to self-sufficiency, but nevertheless, according to Joanne Denney-Finch, chief executive of the Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD): “We are seeing the biggest changes in shopping habits for at least a decade.” The research comes two weeks after a government adviser urged Britons to pick up the pitchfork and dig up their gardens or head to the local allotment. Tim Lang, Professor of Food Policy at City University, said that homeowners were taking more control of their “food systems”. Councils around the country report a sharp rise in demand for allotments. Dorchester Town Council said that the waiting time in the town is more than a year. Six years ago, many of its 250 plots were vacant. The IGD, which plans to unveil its research at its annual convention in London today, said the efforts that consumers were making to save money could fundamentally alter shopping habits. It said that while nearly 60 per cent of shoppers had sought to economise over the past six months, only 9 per cent believed that the quality of the food they had bought had deteriorated. About 20 per cent thought that quality had improved. “Economising is not the same thing as downtrading,” Ms Denney-Finch said. “We’re all very good at problem-solving and good at adapting, so people are finding a way to get what they want without compromising standards by doing things differently. Shoppers have been jolted out of their habits. When they change and they like the outcome, these become new habits.” The IGD said that high petrol prices and energy bills were the main catalysts for the changing behaviour. Consumers were beginning to set up car pools to save money on fuel. More than a quarter of shoppers were shopping around between supermarkets to cherry-pick promotions. Last week Justin King, the chief executive of J Sainsbury, said that more customers were cooking for themselves and that demand for recipe cards was up by 30 per cent. Marc Bolland, Wm Morrison’s chief executive, said that there had been a huge response to the chain’s “Let’s Grow” schools campaign, which is designed to encourage children to grow their own vegetables. 22 hours ago - 1 week left to answer.  more

Voting Question: Is there a gas station that sells race fuel in Birmingham, AL?

Other than at a drag strip?  more

Resolved Question: Would this increase fuel efficiency during cruising?

lets say you have a car with a spoiler. everyone knows racing spoilers are upside down airplane wings...well, what if you flip that back so its like an airplane wing and lifts the rear end just a little bit, just so you take some weight of the wheels. i don't mean to lift the wheels off the ground. just to take the weight off the wheels. would that increase fuel efficiency? i know it would decrease grip, but what if there was a motor that would adjust the angle according to your speed and if you were braking or accelerating, it would go down to be angled like a spoiler. you think it would work? lol you got brains? you didn't even read my details...my details said i don't want the tires off the ground...some brains you have yea...i was thinking maybe drag would just counter act with this...  more

Resolved Question: Will the U.S. Congress bailout the Big Three ,so they can hand NASCAR millions more to burn up more fuel?

NASCAR receives millions of dollars from the automakers, will this continue while the taxpayers foot the bill? Why should the billionaires at NASCAR get more taxpayer dollars, so they can keep on making money in the entertainment field? Real racing and the sport died with Dale Earnhardt...now they just make up the rules as they go along at each race and the format only allows the top ten to have a chance to win the championship the last 10 races which is foolishness and has allowed Jimmy Johnson to win 3 straight races after trailing others in the regular race season. Will the U.S. Congress give money to keep such nonsense going and saddling the taxpayers for the costs? logan: Years ago they were not getting money from taxpayers who are forced to bail them out! Why should people that make a lot less an hour on jobs bailout those that make much more money than them? Why should NASCAR get taxpayers bailout money? Will taxpayers become part owners of NASCAR in the duration? It will be their money that bails them out? The automakers have told NASCAR, they cannot sponsor the sport without a bailout of the industry...they say the are on the verge of bankruptcy! So, a taxpayer bailout of the Big Three is needed or NASCAR sponsorship is gone concerning American makes of auto's...thus it will be taxpayer money that keeps it afloat!!!! Without the bailout, NASCAR has been told...its over. no more money from them!!! Cut-backs are already happening, teams are being dismantled, drivers do not have rides as they do not have sponsorships! pisces_03_03: nice thoughtout answer! I agree!  more

Resolved Question: FOR EVERYONE SO WORRIED ABOUT MIDNIGHT SUN AND KEEPS ASKING PLEASE READ?

SHE IS PUBLISHING THE BOOK. She wrote an article on it, and how it was illegally leeked on the internet and how upset she was and she didn't want to publish it. After that there was the link to read the first chapter of the book. But, no one seemed to scroll down. Her article was updated in June 08. Please, read. June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun. ____________________________________________________ Midnight Sun is an exercise in character development that got wildly out of hand (as do many of my projects). While I was procrastinating some real editing work (I'm always at my most creative when procrastinating), I started to wonder how the first chapter of Twilight would read if it were written from Edward's perspective. There is so much more to his side of the story than there is to Bella's in that first chapter. After all, Bella only knows that an incredibly gorgeous boy is looking at her funny. Meanwhile, Edward is suffering through one of the most momentous days of his very long life! First there's the shock and frustration of not being able to hear Bella's thoughts, then the wild, monstrous reaction to her scent, followed by the incredible expenditure of self-control that it takes to not kill her... His side of Bella's first day at Forks High School is a hundred times more exciting than her own. Though I didn't have time to work on it right away, the idea of letting Edward have his chance to speak stuck with me. I couldn't shake it. I found myself thinking his words in the middle of the night and jotting down phrases he would use while I was waiting in line at the post office. As soon as I finished my real work, I sat down and let Edward get his say. Writing chapter one, "First Sight," from Edward's point of view was an exciting experience; I actually had my pulse racing as I typed. When I finished, I was truly pleased with my creation. Here was the other side of the story that no one knew. Here was the truth of what Edward had been through. I felt like I knew my Edward even better, and I was sure his dialogue would be more insightful in future novels. The end. Exercise over. Ha ha. It wasn't long before I was thinking about Edward in Alaska, Edward upon his return to Forks, Edward's side of that fateful conversation in Biology... Chapter two started to write itself in my head, while I kept telling myself that I didn't have time to write a book for fun when I had real books to write. (My mother seconded that opinion—she thinks I work too hard). But when a story demands to be written, there's no way to resist. And the more I wrote, the more I became convinced that Edward deserved to have his story told. At first I was planning to post it all here on my website, but I changed my mind for two reasons, the most important being that Edward's version is much longer than Bella's—Edward over-thinks everything. I'm not even half way done, and the page count is near three hundred. The second reason that I changed my mind is a little bit silly—I just would really love to have a pretty, matching, bound version of Midnight Sun to put beside Twilight on top of my desk. So I'm going to try to have it published as a complementary novel to Twilight. It will take a while, because I can only work on it between editing stints, but I hope that someday I'll be able to see Midnight Sun on the bookstore shelves next to Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and etc... (Fueling my belief that Midnight Sun is worthy of publishing is my mother's about face—after reading the first eleven chapters, she thinks it's magic and says I should go for it.)  more

Resolved Question: Who doesn't want to be tomorrow? Who wouldn't join?

We all have our beliefs. Some of them inspire loyalty and courage, some meekness and understanding, and some inspire passion and conviction. We can choose where we guide our hearts, and I would like to share how I am guiding mine. I want to be a child of tomorrow, of the future. I want to never see race or religion when I look at someone, but rather, just a person as they are. I want to never see sexual orientation as an obstacle in society, but just another thing making an individual an individual. I want to never swear my oath to a flag, but rather to humanity. My loyalty will always be to the one with least, and I have problems accepting the idea of some parts of the world being excessively comfortable, while many parts of the world are filled with suffering and pain. My enemies are not minorities, but rather, sufferings. My enemy is the hunger of children, war ideology, and gluttony. If we started one at a time, we could change the world... We could educate the masses of impoverished nations, and help them catch up with the rest of us. We could devote the energies and lives wasted on wars to space exploration and humanitarianism, with no religious strings attached. We could celebrate culture. We could welcome new loving religions to the fold as friends of humankind, and as the lives improve for many who more recently have had it bad, the acceleration provided by them could fuel the wildfires of charity and compassion. Let us use apologies, and admittance of wrongdoing freely when it was done, and not teach history as it has not happened. Let us all band together in brother and sisterhood for tomorrow. Let us bond together, and address our own intolerances and bigotries. Let us look in ourselves, keep the good, and leave the bad behind... it doesn't fit into the future. Is this your idea of a future worth living? Who wants to be tomorrow?  more

Voting Question: Obama a good president?

Okay so u all know hes our new president. Honestly, in my opinion(please dont be offended), Obama won because he tells the american people what they want. Things things they want are things like better automotive fuel efficent standards, pulling out of war, better this and better that, which will mostly benefit the people. Honestly who the hell cares what the people want? Its important for people to have what they desire, however, its not a presidents job to satisfy peoples needs, his job is to lead a country and strive in everthing(economy, military ect). I want a president who will make the u.s. a better country. Not a president who wants to cater my personal needs. I recently read an article of an oregon politician and she said that he will make a good president because he will cater to the regular people needs. And i hate how the elections was mainly based on race to the voters. Honestly, all the black people i know voted for him because hes black. I asked 20 of my black friends that voted for obama, i asked why would he be a good president, their response...."I dont know, but hes a brotha"... I perosnally believe that Mccain would be better suited to run the u.s. due to experience and focusing on strengthening our country.  more

Resolved Question: Who is the pound for pound fastest driver in F1 today.?

I have asked many F1 old heads the same question, from tv pundits to F1 fanatics and they reckon that under equal machinery Kimi Raikkonen is by far the fastest driver in F1, I disagrred at first I thought it was Alonso, but because it was the overwhelming answer I went back to some of the best races and laps (during single lap qualifying especially) and was suprised to find that the best race I had seen in years (Japan 06, Spa 05) the best laps (05 monaco quali pole by half sec to Alonso and 05 Monza pole, he had 4 laps more fuel than teamate Montoya) were all by Raikkonen so I changed my mind and put him at the top of that list, who is the fastest to you and please point out some highlights to back it up.  more

Resolved Question: Is this a lesson in how to grow superweeds which outgrow our food crops?

Lessons in how to grow superweeds which outgrow our food crops. In the UK we have a long history of permanent agricultural weeds. This history of agriculture and our methods of agriculture mean we have, in effect, selectively bred, for persistent weeds. Man has evolved within his landscape, he has altered that natural landscape with his agricultural methods. Natural selection has favoured what have now become persistent weeds such as creeping thistle, couch grass, nettles etc. Individual species have evolved due to our agricultural methods, so if, for example, we look at dandelion growth patterns we can see this demonstrated. Dandelions can grow flat to the ground so they can no longer be mown off. They will grow up-right, vertical and tall until they are mown a few times, then they take on the new flat form so they pass under the mower or the scythe. Human attempts at eradication of these persistent weeds has actually led to their 'improvement' and made the situation worse; we have effectively selectively bred them. The difficulty is now in restoring the natural balance, so that they no longer have the competitive advantage. This is what Richard Dawkins would call an 'arms race'. It is escalating therefore both sides need to invest in order to retain the status-quo. From a human perspective this means even greater use of herbicides and fuel energy/human labour for ploughing etc. From our point of view (humans) this is counter productive. However, it is good for these persistent agricultural weeds as it is putting them at a competitive advantage over their compatriots. Persistent weeds have increasingly quicker recovery rates, they have persistence of propagation methods. If you leave in a small section of a root such as creeping thistle or couch grass, a new plant is able to regrow from that tiny section exceptionally quickly. It quickly outgrows all my vegetable plants. It appears from the quote below, the problem is wide spread: 'Then in the 1990s came Roundup Ready cotton, corn and soybeans, which meant machines could go through growing fields with heavy chemical applications of Roundup®, the Monsanto patented herbicide. But weeds have been getting smarter. The wimpy little ones like poke, ragweed or milk thistle have retired from the field, leaving hardier cousins to stand and fight. One of the hardy pigweeds, Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri), has been making a name for itself in South Georgia, because it has evolved resistance to glyphostate, Roundup’s active ingredient. Agronomists say the overuse of glyphostate herbicides is to blame for the amaranth explosion. The plant had already evolved resistances to dinitroanilines and acetolactate synthase inhibitors, and farmers that kept using Roundup year after year, regardless of the warnings, had their fields completely taken over when Roundup Ready Amaranth appeared. Palmer amaranth can grow as tall as 15 feet, although 6 feet is more common. Climate change is its best friend. It can continue to grow an inch a day even without water all summer, even when daily temperature tops 90°F (32°C). Its flowering tops put out half a million seeds per plant. One successful amaranth plant can seed an entire field for the following season. Full grown, the new superweed eats cotton picking machinery and spits out the metal parts. Some Georgia farmers have been forced into bankruptcy and abandoned their farms. The new strain is spreading in every direction and has farmers and extension agents worried from South Carolina to West Texas. Even Monsanto has no recommended solution. But then, Monsanto doesn’t sell hoes' The Happiness Plant re-published from The Permaculture Activist 70:44-46 (Winter 2008-09).  more

Resolved Question: in thir13en ghost does it show how the ghost die?

because i was watching that and flicking between channels so um i was just wondering because i read about how it said they died but i wanted to know if it showed the seens this is how they die if anyone didnt know! but in the movie is it shown? (unedited) 1. The First Born Son (played by Mikhael Speidel) The First Born Son is the ghost of Billy Michaels, a boy who was a fan of cowboy films. One day, a neighbor found a real steel arrow in his parents' closet. He challenged Billy to a duel, with Billy using a toy gun. However, his plaything was no match for the arrow, and he died when the neighbor shot it through the back of his head. In death, Billy is in his cowboy suit and holding a tomahawk, with the arrow still protruding from his head. 2. The Torso (played by Daniel Wesley) The Torso is the ghost of a gambler called Jimmy "The Gambler" Gambino. When he bet heavily on a boxing match and lost, he tried to welch on his bet and slip out of town. The mob and the winning boxer, to whom he owed money, caught up with Gambino and cut him into several pieces, wrapping them in cellophane and dumping the corpse into the ocean. His ghost is just his torso, trying to walk around on its hands, while his head lies nearby screaming within the cellophane. 3. The Bound Woman (played by Laura Mennell) The Bound Woman was a cheerleader named Susan LeGrow, who was born privileged and had a penchant for seducing men and tossing them away. This left a long trail of broken hearts. When her boyfriend found her cheating on him before the prom, he strangled her and killed the other boy as well. He buried her body at the 50-yard line of the local football field. The boyfriend was convicted and sentenced to death; before his execution, he was quoted as saying, "The bitch broke my heart, so I broke her neck." Her ghost is in her prom dress, hanging suspended by the strangling implements with her arms tied behind her back. 4. The Withered Lover (played by Kathryn Anderson) The Withered Lover is Jean Kriticos, Arthur's wife. She was burned severely saving her family from a devastating house fire and later died of her wounds in the hospital. Her ghost initially appears in a hospital gown, hooked up to an IV pole and showing severe burns on her face. Unlike the other ghosts, she is not a vengeful spirit, electing to help her family rather than show malevolence. At the end of the movie, she appears fully healed and in her normal clothing. 5. The Torn Prince (played by Craig Olejnik) The Torn Prince is the ghost of Royce Clayton, born in 1940 who was a gifted baseball star in high school, albeit with attitude issues and a superiority complex. In 1957 he challenged a greaser named Johnny to a drag race, but was killed as his car spun out of control and flipped over; the cause of the accident was a cut brake line. He was buried in a plot of earth that overlooked the baseball diamond. His ghost carries a baseball bat, and in the background in his cube his wrecked car can be seen. Half of his body is torn to shreds from when he was dragged under the car. 6. The Angry Princess (played by Shawna Loyer) The Angry Princess is Dana Newman, who did not believe in her own natural beauty. Abusive boyfriends fueled her low self-esteem, which led to much unneeded plastic surgery for imagined defects. Eventually she got a job working for a plastic surgeon, getting paid in treatments rather than cash. Alone at the clinic one night, she tried to perform surgery on herself, but wound up blinding herself in one eye and permanently mutilating herself beyond saving. She committed suicide in the bathtub by slashing her body repeatedly with a butcher knife. When she was found, people noted that she was as beautiful in death as she had been in life. Her ghost is naked, still carrying the knife she killed herself with and showing all the wounds, and the inside walls of her cube are splattered with her blood. In the edited version shown on T.V., her breasts are shown clear, with the nipples edited out. In her bathroom scene, the phrase "I'm sorry" is visible on the floor in blood; subtitles also reveal that the blurred, hissing speech that announces her arrival is her whispering "I'm sorry." This was written on her suicide note. When her cube opens, she advances toward Ben Moss, who backs up into an open doorway to get away from her and is killed when it snaps shut on him. 7. The Pilgrimess (played by Xantha Radley) The Pilgrimess is the ghost of Isabella Smith, an Englishwoman who traveled across the Atlantic and settled in New England during colonial times. She was an outsider to the town she moved into, and this isolated her from the other townsfolk. She was found guilty of witchcraft after livestock began to die mysteriously; when she emerged from a burning barn completely unharmed, she was sentenced to the stocks (pillory) with no food or drink until she died. As a ghost, she is still locked into her stocks. 8  more

It is a 1995 civic EX (D16Z6) OK here whats going on. I installed headers and the car now wont turn on, but I doubt this problem has anything to do with the problem First I checked all grounds and fuses and they were all fine. Fuel pump turns on, its good. There is a pulse in the injectors so everything is fine. Changed the battery still no go Changed the Spark plugs still no go Checked for Spark still no go Checked compression 95% good All showed good around 175ish except for second on which showed lower, but 150ish is not that low car. It should still start.. If this information helps. I raced my friend and I mishifted into second at 70mph only for half a sec.. Checked another theory and bought Engine starting fluid and sprayed a couple in the throttle body to double check it was not a fuel problem but still it's cranking and not turning I am clearly out of ideas anybody know something that could be wrong? IT'S CRANKING BUT NOT TURNING... I don't understand? ECU + wires are fine Rotor turns.. Still nothing. Did I say rotor?? Haha I mean alternator.. But yes the weather is perfectly fine.  more

Resolved Question: How soon can we expect the new Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition from Congressional Motors. ?

To roll out of Detroit? Excerpts (for a good laugh read the entire blog): It's in the way you dress. The way you boogie down. The way you sign your unemployment check. You're a man who likes to do things your own way. And on those special odd-numbered Saturdays when driving is permitted, you want it in your car. It's that special feeling of a zero-emissions wind at your back and a road ahead meandering with possibilities. The kind of feeling you get behind the wheel of the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition from Congressional Motors. All new for 2012, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the mandatory American car so advanced it took $100 billion and an entire Congress to design it. We started with same reliable 7-way hybrid ethanol-biodeisel-electric-clean coal-wind-solar-pedal power plant behind the base model Pelosi, but packed it with extra oomph and the sassy styling pizazz that tells the world that 1974 Detroit is back again -- with a vengeance. We've subsidized the features you want and taxed away the rest. With its advanced Al Gore-designed V-3 under the hood pumping out 22.5 thumping, carbon-neutral ponies of Detroit muscle, you'll never be late for the Disco or the Day Labor Shelter. Engage the pedal drive or strap on the optional jumbo mizzenmast, and the GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition easily exceeds 2016 CAFE mileage standards. At an estimated 268 MPG, that's a savings of nearly $1800 per week in fuel cost over the 2011 Pelosi. Even with increased performance we didn't skimp on safety. With 11-point passenger racing harnesses, 15-way airbags, and mandatory hockey helmet, you'll have the security knowing that you could survive a 45 MPH collision even if the GTxi SS/Rt were capable of that kind of illegal speed. http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/4002445/ Just for fun, it's worth the read! Is this what we can anticipate driving in the future?  more

Resolved Question: what do you think on these new proposals for qualifying?

On December 4th FOTA will gather to discuss a new qualifying format. If they all agree on it, it will be suggested to FIA on December 12th. The team managers have come up with a way to turn qualifying into an even more dramatic shoot-out. In the first session of qualifying all cars would be on the circuit at the same time driving with equal fuel. After each lap the slowest driver will be eliminated and will start the race from that grid position. This would go on for 14 laps, untill the 6 fastest drivers are left and they go on to the final session. They will start again with equal fuel, but are free to change tyres as they see fit. It is also suggested that pole position will give 1 championship point and a cash prize to be determined.  more

Resolved Question: Could someone please check my essay for grammatical errors and punctuation ?

Global warming threatens the whole world. Though it has had little noticeable impact on the world so far, its potential impact could be disastrous which is why global warming has become an issue ever present in the media and for governments. One of the biggest problems facing the Bahamas today is global warming. Future predictions do not look good for the Bahamas. There are many causes, such as the greenhouse effect through the burning of fossil fuels, the rise in sea level which will not be good for the Bahamas and, pollution which poses many problems for this country. You have heard that “for every cause, there is an effect”. Agricultural would be greatly impacted by global warming, Climate change could have a severe effect on the Bahamas; the economic consequences could lead to instability for this country. There are many solutions. First stop making CO2 and switch from oil, coal and gas to renewable energy, secondly the Bahamas have plenty of sunshine; they can create a solar farm, thirdly use less energy and recycle more product. The more Bahamians recycle the less they contribute to the greenhouse effect. There are many causes of the greenhouse effect. The most common greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. They are released by the burning of fossil fuels which are a major leading cause of concern for the Bahamas. These emissions can be seen when a car is started on a cold early morning. The muffler will emit visible vapor. The more cars run idle for a long period of time, the more carbon dioxide is emitted into the air. It can be seen in the form of smoke in heavy populated cities like New Providence and Grand Bahama. Many things contribute to global warming such as factories (e.g. BORCO in Grand Bahama), transportation, waste products and agriculture. The greenhouse effect is crucial to our being. Without the greenhouse effect, the earth would not be warm enough for the human race to live. If the Bahamas continues to contribute to the greenhouse effects by continuing to burn fossil fuel and sending more pollution in the atmosphere this can cause a great deal of health problems for its citizens of the Bahamas. First of all air pollution causes a great deal of health problems; such as, aggravated asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung and heart diseases, and respiratory allergies. Wanting clean air is an important factor to consider because air that is polluted can result in s death. However, our health is not the only thing to be threatened, our environment is threatened too. Indeed, air pollution causes some disorders on the environment, meaning the increase in sea temperatures and the destruction of coral reefs. The Bahamas has another source of pollution cruise ships. They produce an enormous amount of unwanted gases and fumes. This makes it a major contributor of pollution. For instance, while in port at Nassau harbour or at other islands, cruise ship that sails to the Bahamas spends one day in New Providence or a small amount of time at some other island. Cruise liners use about three hundred thousand tons of fuel on a daily basis and a considerable amount while docked. If there are three ships in Bahamian waters that are tied up at the Prince Gorge dock for example, whatever they use can lead up to three hundred thousand tons of fuel per year. {English 119 booklet Par.7 pg 26} “This generates about on million tonnes of greenhouse gases” which can contribute to the rise in see level Most of our islands are in five feet or more above sea level. The Bahamas being a low-lying area as it is, fresh water ponds can be severely affected as a result. There are many well fields in some of the islands, which can become contaminated due to the rise in sea levels. This spells disaster for those islands in which water is pumped from places like Andros and Grand Bahama. {Climate Change in the Caribbean by Larry Smith} states “Indications are that some fresh water marshes in the Bahamas have already become brackish, which may be attributed to rising sea levels. It is known that well fields on Andros and Grand Bahama have been badly affected by storm surges in the past five years”. Bahamapundit.com. Scientists are ardently trying to find ways to counteract the effects that the rising waters are causing, which includes island and beach erosion. Evidence of the public’s ignorance of the inevitable impact of the rising sea levels is shown in the millions of people that are flocking to the coast. The Bahamas is mainly a low-lying country; a rising sea levels will negatively affect coastal areas; eroding beaches, mangroves, coral reefs and tourism; and eventually cause some islands to disperse because of the costal erosion. The Bahamas is basically a low- lying country; the highest point being two hundred and six feet above sea level; thus, this make the Bahamas vulnerable to the effect of climate change and higher temperature increase flooding due to heavier rains. This can result in mal  more

Resolved Question: 2002 Ford F150 Won't Crank...Need Help!?

First, the passenger window (electric) would not roll up...then it did...then it wouldn't again kind of like the motor was mess up...Second, turn on the headlights...most of the time works...sometimes they turn back off and have to wiggle the knob to get them to turn back on...Third, the truck would not crank...most of the time it will at least try to turn over...but won't crank. Took to local mechanic...they checked out fuel system...filter was dirty but fixed that problem...hooked it up to computer and no basic problems found...mechanic not sure...said we could take to Ford dealer or to a local racing shop to have truck hooked up to more "detailed computer system" to have truck scanned for problems...but both options VERY expensive....any ideas?....please help. We live on bumpy dirt roads if it makes any difference. Thank you!  more

As my brother in law sits here watching the weekend nascar race, I see there is a hybrid pace car...whoopee. Resolved Question: if you could rid the world of money...?

would you do it. knowing that we have enough resources to feed the whole world plenty sufficiently. we have can provide the whole world with unlimited power by using much more environmentally beneficial means of power... such as wind power, water power, geothermal power, solar power - plus more. rather than fuel and oil which is what is damaging our environment. we could further technology because corporations and governments are holding technology back to keep their best selling products at the top of the commerce ladder. i.e. electric powered cars can't break into the market because oil brings in too much revenue... and yes, they are fast enough and last plenty long enough to be totally sufficient ways of transportation... this is but one example of many technological hinderences due to the commerce market. not to mention, money (or lack there of) is killing millions of people everyday who can't afford to eat, all the while there is more than enough food to feed the entire world. the reason we have 3rd world countries is primarily due to money. all in all money and corporations are holding us back us as a human race as well as allowing an immense amount of people to die everday unnecesarily. sorry if this is coming off more of a statement rather than a question... just gimme your honest thoughts. best answer will be based on honest answers (to the best of my nterpretation) and well thought out answers. even if you don't agree with everything i said, that doesn't disqualify - i like to be informed on the opposing sides as well.  more

When the cars were off the throttle blue flames were coming out of Jimmies exhaust, and all the other cars were emitting yellow flames. It made me wonder if Jimmie was burning a different type of fuel or used an additive. Did anyone else notice the difference in Jimmies exhaust flames. It was more pronounced toward the end of the race when it started getting darker outside. an additive can be applied to the "gas can" before it's filled. Technically you could line the fuel cell with an octane booster or use a solid additive that would be activated upon dillution, enabling it to do its job in a later stage.  more

Resolved Question: Why do people make racists jokes about President Obama now that he's our President?

I have seen emails and have heard jokes from friends that are in bad taste. The latest one I heard today was that now that Obamas President that a KFC was going to be built across the street from the white house. I mean come on that was uncalled for. I have never heard anyone ridicule past Presidents like that. I am black and have never heard black people stereotype any of the Past Presidents. Heck Obama may not even like KFC, but people stereotype him because he is half black. Things said like that puts the fuel in the racist fire in people hearts. Black people become angry and defensive and that spurs distrust and racism against whites from blacks. I am not saying all whites are racist or stereotype blacks, but the ones who do it to be degrading and hurtful know who they are. I know comedians talk about races all the time, but its all in fun and everybody is having a good time. People who make all the stereotypical comments to be brash and hateful only keep dividing our nation more. If people would block out race, they would find that we are all more alike than we are different. Okay for all you haters... President Elect Obama.. You know what I mean!!!  more

Why does the left take the actions of the few and exploit it to make it seem as though all the right or in my case the FAR EXTREME RIGHT are racists or what have you.
