Open Question: For Shockwave game players for years ~?

There was once an awesome arcade game (well two Im trying to find) a while back on shockwave. The first one is a car racing game. It was where you had to put in a quarter (an image of a quarter) and it goes in a slot. you start the gameout with a silver I think it was car. there were other cars around you when you first started and pryer to the game,there was grass in the first part,then you had to pick two roads after the greenish area of the race at the beginning,then desertish second,then you had to try to get into a truck without being shot at. and there was another car you had to watch out for. then you had to watch out for a helicopter,then cross a bridge etc etc. Please tell me what the name of this game is,and or where I can find it/buy/have it for playing on computer or my ipod etc. The second game might be easier to find,but it's a game where once again you put in a quarter and you're either a monkey,a wolf or some green monster thing (lizzie). you have to crash buildings watch for trains you can punch buildings etc saving people is think is the goal of the game. and you die by turing back into a human and some-how you're naked? or something like that Lol PLEASE HELP! Open Question: Trying to remember computer games....?

So I have the shittest memory in the world, am trying to remember the name of two computer games. The first was a car/buggy racing game set in space and you had to make it to the end of the course to pass the level, the roads were different colours and would speed you up/slow you down/make you bounce etc depending on the colour. The second game I remember very little about apart from that it was a platform game and there were like snails that left puddles of poisonous urine or something. Any help would be good. Cheers. more

So, this is a little something I've written. It's part of a bigger piece of a story, so if you don't understand things, keep that in mind. Please give me any feedback. Good, bad, I'm not fussed. Just be courteous. :) Thanks! Room 306 was the worst possible room we could be in. Most of the kids in here hated it, because the room was lined with windows, even though it was inside, and teachers in the halls would often look in. This meant that they couldn’t play games on the computers without getting caught. I sighed. I wish I could be so carefree. But I hated 306 because it was a threat. A very large threat. It was dangerous to be in such an exposed spot. The windows made it only too easy to spy. They also prevented easy access for any attacks. It always made me nervous when I was in this room. I tried to remind myself that our operation wasn’t compromised. Not yet, anyway. “Lahni. Lahni… Lahni!” It took me a moment to realize it was me the teacher was talking to. Damn aliases. “Sorry. What did you say?” I said politely, ignoring the kids ogling at me in the class. Kids. That’s all they were. Immature teenagers. “If we put faith in the Pythagoras theorem A squared plus B squared equals C squared, the value of C in this equation is…?” I glanced at the equation written on the board. “41.” Ms. Tucker checked her notes. “Well… Um… Yes, that’s right…” She mumbled, clearly thinking she was going to catch me out. I smirked. High School was such a bore. To think that all of their young had to go through this… The sun glared through the windows, making the dust in the air shimmer. I found my eyes were growing heavy as I listened to the teacher drone on and on about Pythagoras. Like it’s that hard to get… One of the easiest mathematical solutions these people had ever come up with. I yawned widely, earning myself disapproving glares from the girls, Kelly and Renee, in the front row. Feeling playful, I stuck my tongue out. They flipped back their hair, rolling their eyes. “So immature…” I heard Kelly whisper to Renee. I snickered quietly to myself. Tristan looked up from his paper, noticing the girl’s attentions were on me and slowly, trying to be inconspicuous, turned around to look over at me. His eyes met mine for a brief second, before he darted them away, a red tinge rising to his cheeks. I frowned. Maybe I really had been careless yesterday with my little catching-a-ball-flying-faster-than-a-speeding-bullet trick. I shook off the feeling. My eyes glazed over as I stared aimlessly at the back of Tristan’s head. They couldn’t say I wasn’t watching him. The bright red dot danced around on in front of my eyes before I realized exactly what it was. It came to stop right over the place where Tristan’s heart was on the other side of his body. My heart raced. “Tristan! Get down!” I yelled, jumping up from my chair, knocking it over in my haste. He turned, confused and scared by the urgency in my voice. I dived over the table, rolling and grabbing the back of his shirt. He collapsed backwards off his chair just as his table erupted with bullet holes. There was a moment of silence when nobody said anything, then Renee screamed. “Everyone get down under your tables!” I cried, kicking the leg of Tristan’s table making it tip over and wheeling it around to shield us both from the onslaught. The sound was deafening as teenagers all scrambled over each other, trying to get to safety. All screaming, all terrified. “What’s going on?” Tristan asked weakly from beside me as more bullets sizzled through the air, aiming for us. The table would only hold for so long. Yeah, I meant presented not prevented. Oops. :) more

I don't have any computer games but i have imvu,(but its rlyy boring) I dont go on internet to find a game I usually go and listen to music.But this is getting boring. Sims 3 came out and my neighbor got them right away,(she always gets what she wants) but if I asked my dad he would say" your too old, games are dumb only idiots play them!" look who is talkin! Voting Question: Which CPU and Graphics Card should I choose for my ultimate gaming PC?

Correct me if Im wrong but I think the most important hardware in a gaming PC is the CPU and Video Card. Please help me choose the CPU and GPU that you think will most fit my purpose. I have had midnight club la for a while now, recently i have been having problems with it. it seems to be getting more biased towards the computer winning. I know it should be difficult but it is getting stupid. for example, if i do a freeway race against a green highlighted racer (easy) in my ford gt i will be going flat out at around 235mph and the ford focus i am racing will just fly by (without NOS) as tho i am standing still, also agro does not affect them and if they hit anythingcars, walls etc they do not slow down just brush of them please help as this is making the game very annoying more

i remember very little about it, but it was played on an old windows, certain hexs represented stars, and you had a choice between a number of races with various specializations, i remember that i was partial to the alien species whose ships were shown as red, who focused on defense, and the people who specialized in quickly building new ships, who were teal. i believe the humans (Terrans) were gray and focused on offensive weaponry. the game would be at least a decade old, and probably more than that. i have spent years trying to figure out what the games was exactly, and i was hoping someone could help me. more

Voting Question: Can Anyone Remember An Old Game?

Hi, i don't know how many of you can remember this game, and i must point out i cannot remember what it is called. From what i can remember it came out around 95 or 98, im not sure which, i think the name was along the lines of "free space" but im also not sure, because it wasn't anything to do with the "Decent" Story line, and also due to the fact it was 2D not 3D, So the fact that i do Remember 1) it was 2D 2) it was based around your computer (literally based around your icons etc), aka in game you played, it was either free driving, races, battle (with virus/other ships), and collect icons. 3) There was different factions, good(ies), baddies, and coppers, if happened to kill a good guy, the police would try and arrest you. 4) there is a lot of different ranges of ships but on the demo you could only use one. 5) if you got damaged and needed repairs it shows you going into the hard drive and healing. ive been after this game for years, but i cannot remember it. so if anyone can help me i will be very grateful! more

I need some input from the gamers/tech-gurus on this one. I'm building a gaming computer for myself, with a price range of $1000-1200 and a primary use in racing sims-- namely Rfactor. I was wondering how the lower end i7 stacks up against the top of the line Q9650 quad? I'm not planning on overclocking, and my build will likely include 6 gig of ram if I go the i7-920 route or 8 gig of ram if I go the Q9650 route. The graphics card will most likely be a 9800gt, the power supply a corsair, and the motherboard undecided. Resolved Question: Why Does (PNY) NVidia GeForce 6200 256MB Get Low Vista Experience Score?

My computer has an AGP (PNY) NVidia GeForce 6200 with 256MB of RAM. The computer runs Vista Home Premium SP1. My problem is that the graphics card seems to be getting a lower score on the Vista Experience index than I expected. It gets a 2.2 for Graphics and a 2.6 for gaming graphics. I have PNY's ForceWare 175 drivers installed for the card. I suspect that this is a driver problem, as I got reasonably better performance with XP on graphics, such as Google Earth or some racing games in fullscreen mode. I also remember reading on a website that this card should get a 3 or so on the experience index. On the other hand, aero seems to run reasonably well, though Flip3D is a little choppy if I have several windows open. Does anyone know of any driver updates that will allow the card to work at it's full potential in Vista, and get a better experience score than this? Or do I have to upgrade to a more powerful graphics card, like a 7 series or 8 series? I really don't want to have to upgrade the graphics card, as I'm on a strict budget. Thanks in advance to all who can help me on this! more

People are so naïve. They all believe nothing bad will ever happen to them. My ugly greenish-yellow bag was filled to the brim with toiletries and clothes. I always over packed when it came to spending the night at someone’s house. “Amber!” Mom hollered from the kitchen. She waltzed over to the bottom of the stairs, her black heels clacking with every step she took. “Yeah?” I asked as I walked out of my bathroom and into the hallway. When I peered down the staircase I could see my mom clearly. She was wearing her “Race for the Cure” T-shirt that we got from that horribly long 3k race about a year ago with her classic black capris that she wore whenever she was about to work out. “Did you pack Morgan’s stuff up?” She inquired. “Ugh!” I moaned. Morgan was six years old. She could pack her own bag! After shoving the last piece of clothing into Morgan’s suit case, Mom started the car. Instinctively, Morgan left without her bag so I could carry it. There’s a sister for you. I slid into the car with both of them, the sound of Britney Spears’ voice reverberating off the interior walls of the car. The music made it easy not to talk, so I shut my mouth, which is rare, and kept my eyes on passing objects out the window. By the time we arrived at our cousins’ house, Morgan and I were both hungry. “Greetings,” Brandon said, laughing as I stumbled into their house, Morgan behind me. “Hey!” I shouted when I saw Brandon. He was a year older than me and when we were kids we spent nearly every weekend together. We’d visit our grandparents’ house down Sunbury road. It was probably the biggest house I’d ever set foot in at the time. I adored it, too. Every Saturday I’d pack up to spend the weekend there with Brandon. Grandpa installed a zip line for us one weekend and we used it ever since. “Want anything to eat?” Aunt Heidi asked us, interrupting my flashback. “Sure,” I replied as I removed my pink converse and set them against the wall beside me while Brandon pulled out two Kool-Aid pouches for him and me. He always seemed to have Kool-Aid with him when I came over. Aunt Heidi grabbed the phone that lay on the counter beside us and decided to order some pizza for us. “Where’s Aubrey?” Morgan questioned after Aunt Heidi set the phone down. “Upstairs,” She simply said, and before I knew it, Morgan was racing up the steep flight of stairs, screaming, “AUBREY!” “When you see my new computer you’re gonna poop a brick,” Brandon laughed as he led the way to the computer room. There on the desk was a normal sized monitor. I wasn’t too impressed so far. But next to the screen was a giant computer. It was pretty up to date in today’s growing technology with its see-through boards and glowing blue buttons. “Holy crap!” I shouted as I checked it out. “Jealous much?” Brandon was always a joker. I knew he was serious when he asked but he had a twinge of humor added to the question with his odd way of saying it. For the next couple of hours I watched him play World of War Craft, which was actually a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. After a while though, it became boring and I wandered into the family room to watch some TV. My Uncle Aaron had bought TiVo not too long ago, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I flipped through a couple of channels and watched Saw V until Brandon came in. When it was nearly midnight when he got on his awesome TiVo thing and turned it to a Chinese game show that I’d never heard of. Contestants had to go through a maze without getting caught by some “monster” They had to go through doors in the maze as fast they could so the “monster” wouldn’t get them, but some doors let to a drop off into water. If they fell into the water or got caught by the “monster” they lost. It was pretty funny and there were enough episodes to last all night, but I was getting tired and volunteered to go to bed. Brandon reluctantly agreed as we both clambered up the giant staircase. Aubrey’s light from her room shone under the door as I walked passed. Grabbing the knob, I swung the door open. Right in front of me was Morgan and Aubrey playing with Barbies. Angry, I commanded Morgan to get in her pajamas and go to bed. I did the same and crawled into Brandon’s bed. He had to sleep with his sister like I had to sleep with mine. There was only one problem. “The bed’s not big enough,” Morgan stated as she slipped into Brandon’s room quietly. “I can see,” I said as I rolled my eyes. Sitting up, I began to wonder what we should do. There was a pull-out mattress underneath the bed, but I hated sleeping on the ground and I knew Morgan would never sleep there. Then I thought maybe we could both sleep on the single-sized bed with the pull-out mattress actually pulled out in case one of us fell. Though I thought it would be stupid and the chance of one of us falling was slim. Me, being the selfish person I am, I told Morgan to sleep on the outside. Ok so about 1 1/2 months ago i smoked weed. im 15 years old and i have smoked about 25 times. i usually love it. this time i had a horrible panic attack. but not like the ones i usually hear about. My heart started racing. i was shaking. i could not understand life, i had to think about breathing or i would not breathe. i honestly could not comprehend anything. i was by myself in my bed, trying to sleep. It was horrible, i cant explain .. worst night of my life. So now, 1 month later i am feeling horrible depersonalization ( movie/dream like, cant think very well, living life but not experiencing etc..). I honestly don't no how long i can make it. its horrible, its all i can think about every day. im depressed and scared. i cant bare it much longer. The only time i feel semi normal is on my computer. playing video games. i love them. but that wont do in school or with friends. please help, i need reassurance that it will go away. exams coming up and im almost failing. stress. please help thankss for replies, rourke... thats not my problem i have enough peopleto lecture me. iknow. and ihave quit weed. i just really need this to go away. i willtry the advice you guys have given tho more

Where can I find some info on making USB controllers? I want to build my own racing wheel but I don't know how to get it working with USB. There is lots of information for doing it with a 15 pin game port but modern computers don't have those anymore. I need to know how to add both digital and analog with USB. I can use other sources for building the wheel it's self but I don't know how to get the USB part working. more

My computer has 512MB 4870 Core 2 Duo e7400 4gb DDR2 800 RAM And it's all running on Vista Home Premium 64bit Here are my benches: ***ALL GAMES ARE RUNNING AT 1440-900*** Crysis(demo)-All high, except water and shadows which are extra high->30-40fps when no firefights, but drops to mid 20s when I am in front of a large body of water and to 15-20 in fire fights Far Cry 2-Maxed Out-25ish fps in main city/firefights, 40+ everywhere else Race Driver Grid(demo) Maxed Out-55fps average The Witcher(demo)-Maxed out-60ish fps average Gothic 3 (demo)-Maxed Out-20ish fps during the first orc/human battle and 40ish in town and 70+ outside, I'm worried about this one because it looks terrible and it still gives me bad performance sometimes during battles Burnout Paradise-Maxed Out(60-70fps all times) Unfortunately my comp has a damned phoenix bios so i cant really overclock. It is for PC and from back in the day. The game was on my elementary school's computers, but I don't remember it being educational. You are competing against this guy to build the fastest blimp/plane/car. You run around levels trying to find various parts to whatever you need to build. When you get all the parts you race, and either your plane falls out of the sky or is to slow, but you gotta go back out and find better parts. Several people remember this game but no one remembers the name! Help me out please! more

Urgent Advice . I have been hunting around for Laptops. Though really need some know-how from the experts out there. I need the ability to - Multimedia Create/Edit Media, Photoshop, Maya etc etc High Quality Graphics card. NVidea GT I have read are great . Though also some info on ATI has sounded worthwhile... High Quality Intel, such as T9600 or something in lower but powerful category. 3-4 gb memory Ram.. 300-500 GB Hard Drive. DVD-Cd RW ... Blue Ray. ( Burner if possible ) HD - 15-17 inch screen. decent battery life. under 4kg , though prefer as lower as possible. I enjoy Gaming, will be playing games on this machine, have not owned a Laptop before and I travel about sometimes, though mostly will use this as a Multimedia / Gaming tool. at the house and work.. I dont go to school or Uni so wont be lugging it around all day.. Will be using also to trade on Betfair.com, so will need ability of speed to run multiple websites, streaming live video Data of Races and Odds and Market fluctuations. Wireless, high quality.. Games such as Cyrisis if possible ( Have only heard about it really ) know it does require some very intesne specs.. but cant have everything..-though games like GTA 4 - warcraft -Fear or FarCry 2 etc, and other new games, not an extreme gamer though so picking out slight geeky faults or slight colour loss wont annoy me that much.. Resolved Question: My pc games keep crashing?

Ok when i play RaceDriver GRID all maxed out except shadows and mirrors ill be happy racing a formula 3 racing car at 180mph happily playing at 40fps and then my screen blacks out the monitor goes into standby and then 50 second later the monitor turns back on, refreshes itself and the game resumes, only this time my half a mill car is rapped arround a steel railing, like what the hell is going on with my computer? This also happens when i play test drive unlimited. Graphics card overheating? Outdated display drivers or what? Please help me. I have most of thd newest updates like dx9 2009 updates etc... I have a major set of problems. First of all I will give you the specs of my router and computers. I have a Belkin MMO router,Advent Notebook running on vista,Acer notebook on linux and an xbox 360. My problems are as follows: 1) One night recently I noticed that videos like youtube ones didn't run correctly and neither did thumnails or pictures until the page loaded completely (the pictures and not the videos). The videos wouldn't stream at all or would play and stream in 2 second bursts. I tested the java script on both pcs and all are up to date. Instead of pictures loading,they are white with either a red dot or a blue red and green square triangle and circle in the top left corner. 2) My internet speed and power has dropped intensly resulting in a large wait to load a page and commonly a "cannot load page" page appearing. I know this isn't my pcs because I tried it on a friends network and it works a little faster and better. 3)My xbox live is acting very strange. As I sign in,if I try to do another task with it,eg, sign out of MSN,it commonly freezes and I have to turn off the xbox and restart it. Also games like Halo and especially Gta 4 are acting very odd. Normally halo runs fine with minimal errors and disconnections while gta 4 has a few more. But recently halo,cod 5 and gta 4 are commonly disconnecting. For example in gta after a few seconds in Race or free mode,the other players start to glitch or lag and then either I get disconnected from the server or everybody else appears to leave. I really am at the end of my rope here. Please help. Thank you in advance! more

Resolved Question: Race Driver Grid is way too hard?

I don't know if it is just me or there some thing wrong with my computer. But i can't seem to drive at all in Grid.... the game is INSANE! I have a hard time just to drive straight, the car spin out even with the slightest tap... And i am not a noob in racing game or anything, i have finished most of the NFS games with flying colors, even tho NFS are fairly easy. but compare to GRID.... I don't know... Dos anyone else agree? if not, i have to start figing out if i suck at racing game in general or my machine is having issues. more

Im not a hardcore gamer at all, i have an old PS2 with about 4 games, thats it. I only play certain racing games, quiz games only when im bored or waiting for a long awaited bus. I love listening to music and i know the DSi has a music player. I also love taking random photos or fun photos while im in a car, bus or waiting for a friend. I like simple designs, i love gadgets, but im not a computer/gamer freak. Should i get a DSi? or are there other alternatives (not PSP), and i already have an ipodtouch and pocket PC.
