Open Question: Adding some muscle to my body?

I'm 19 6-0, around 145lbs, and I feel I am a little bit too thin and scrawny. I want to pack on some muscle, particularly upper body. I have been doing necessary workouts, but just want to know if their is a certain diet, or certain foods I should take to help me through this process easier. Also any vitamins or supplements may help me...No steroids! :) I want to add the muscle to help with stamina as I play goalie in hockey. I'm pretty nimble and agile, just not as strong as I think I could be... more

my dad is always so angry and not a happy guy to e around. but hes only like that to me! im his youngest daughter, age 15. my parents got divorced 5 years ago n only 6 months later he married this lady who absolutely hates me n my brothers (they're 21 and 19) and she's got two children, the girl is 13 and the son is 16, and the children, im sorry to say, but they are fucked up! they are lazy, stupid, mean, and rude! my dad cant take his anger out on them cuz jonelle (his new wife) will yell at him. also, my dad's a diabetic, so he needs lots of care when he gets stressed out, which he does a lot. recently, we're been havingr enevations done on the house for 3 years now n its still not done. my brothers now live with my mom cuz they cant stand my dad, so he cant take his anger out on them. and, jeff (the 19 year old) is in the coast gaurd, so its not like he wud b able to visit him. me n my brothers all share a room rite now, which means i just have a huge room to myself and every other week i live at my dads house, i just live up in my room. her kids have their own room. sorry its long. i just really want to know why hes always so angry at just me and always so nice and fatherly to them. also, he always goes to the 13 year olds soccer games but never my field hockey/hockey/lacrosse games. hes only gone to 2 field hockey and ive been playing for 3 years more

Open Question: Is running the only option I have to get my muscular legs more toned?

I'm 14, a girl. I have muscular legs because I do field hockey in fall, and cheering in winter and some during summer, and ride my bike nearly every day. I also do squats at home to tighten up the butt area. The problem is that I don't want my legs to get thicker, I want them more toned from exercise. I've seen questions like this on here that said running is all you can do to fix this, but I was wondering if there are any other ways to make my muscular legs skinnier. Thanks. more

Open Question: why dont my skates give ankle support?

i asked this question before but no good answers, i got a new pair of ccm 01 skates (there new in the u.k i think) and i bought them at a hockey shop and i got the same size as my shoe size (as this is what the guy reccommended) and when i tie the laces my ankles still wobble high up in the skates, ive tried tying them tighter (which hurts more + doesnt help) different lacing techniques (still no support) and nothing seems to work, its just the shape of the skate is weird that it only covers up to just above my sticky out ankle bone, which makes my foot wobble from side to side in them and i cant even stand up in them, please give some help (would baking them fix this) more

Open Question: Hockey Goalies: Dealing with a painful loss...giving up a lot of goals?

I'm in my 7th year of playing hockey goalie but just my 2nd year of ice hockey goalie (the first 5 were roller hockey). In my first ice year, I transitioned pretty nicely and my jv team won our league's championship. Just tonight in the spring season, I've been splitting the games with the varsity goalie but tonight I had a bed game giving up 7 goals, and it was after someone told me that now the coaches want to know if I was a fluke, and that has been stuck in my head, affecting my performance a lot. I've been making mistakes like making the first move and going down too early and it hurt me bad (7 goals) how do i shake this performance and fluke comment off? more

Open Question: Leaving a sport sue to several injuries...?

I'm 17, and in my Senior Year, and I play field hockey on weekends. It has frequently been a source of injuries for me, where last season I fractured my ankle and got a concussion. Just yesterday, I got hit in the chin with a hockey ball, and I needed to get stitches. It's not a very good look and I have had to cancel some of my work shifts whilst it heals which is rather annoying. The significant impact of these injuries on my school, social and work life has led me to thinking that maybe I should give the sport up. Although it is non-contact and all possible preventions have been put in place (mouthguards, shinpads etc.), I still seem to acquire frequent injuries from the sport. However, I really enjoy hockey, and it is the only sport I currently play. My question is, am I right in choosing to leave the sport, and if not, what other options should I consider? more

Resolved Question: Why is basketball in america dominated by african americans?

Iv'e heard people say "well, because black people are more athletic" or black people are "built stronger". etc.... If this is the case...why is MMA and Boxing not dominated by blacks? If they re built stronger or have more athletic abilities, wouldnt they dominate all sports? Especially in MMA...if africans are built stronger genetically, wouldnt they run through the "white" fighters in mma where the fight can go to the ground?
