Open Question: Adopting a dog..............?

I want to ask this question because we have adoped a st bernard and i have 2 young kids which i am concerned about. The question is Have you ever been kissed (licked) by a slobbery dog (st bernard, mastiff, great dane. bulldog, boxer)? What did it feel like? How wet was it? The reason i want to know is because this st bernard slobbers a ton and is very affectionate (he likes to kiss your face, lips and mouth). My wife and i are ok with that and realy love the affection but i just want my 2 kids to not be alarmed or harmed by the slobber. The slobber is very overwelming and when he licks your face, lips, and mouth he leaves slobber dripping from your face! Is their anything we can do to get rid of the slobber? Short version: My mom keeps putting my ex's pic on her refridgerator, She knows this urks me, however she keeps doing it. She will take it down when she knows I'm coming but put the damn thing back. Open Question: jazzing up the running game, your thoughts on this idea?

Allot of fans these days prefer the passing game as opposed to the good old smashmouth running game and I can't blame them. Theirs just more thrill in watching the ball being aired out for a big gain than their is in watching the ball being handed off for a gain of possibly a few yards. That said i was thinking though, what if you were to jazz up the running game. Its not an easy feat, but it's like how Pernell Whitaker made watching defensive boxing fun (if you don't know what i mean, go look him up on youtube - it was just as entertaining watching him dodge a few hundred punches because of his style and swagger as it generally is seeing another boxer land a few hundred punches). So how do you make the running game more exciting? Well i was thinking what if you were to make playing "school yard" football a big part of a smashmouth teams offense. By school yard football i mean, what if you were to use the lateral pass more rather than limiting it to trick plays and last minute efforts. Now ofcourse a lateral pass can be dangerous (and because of the danger implied it does defy the point of smashmouth football which is posession emphasised football) because if a missed/dropped lateral is still considered a live ball. With that in mind though, teams are going to have to play a very tight running game, using only short laterals. Whos the RB going to lateral to? Well you could use a more traditional pro set or even a 4 wide set with the lone running back. Take the spread formation for example: Wide receivers in running plays generally of course block near the line of scrimmage or block deep. But what if they read the defense at the beginning of a play much like in a the run n shoot, but unlike in the run n shoot, they adjusted their routes so that they crossed or rubbed off the running backs direction. Thus giving the RB the option to keep it or pass the ball. However, because we are not playing rugby here, the forward pass could be used to and routes adjusted to create multiple hook and lateral type passing plays all over the field. So what does everyone think? I think it could make for some entertaining football more

Which dog breed is most dominant and which is most protective? Doberman, Airedale Terrier, Boxer, German Shepherd, Rottwelier, Collie,Great Dane, which of these breeds is most protective, yet least dominant, or head strong and less likely to challenge owner? I think most of these suggestions are great thanks, but I think it's funny that whenever you ask a question like this you always have the nit pickers, like it depends on the dog, or its all on the owner, or asking a question means you know nothing, the thing is you get a purebred because you can hope to reasonablly get the looks and personality you expect, if purebreds were completly random, then they would be as unknown as the mix breeds, so there has to be some similarities in purebred dogs, and also without owning one books can only take you so far, that is why you ask people who have owned them right, it seems that dominance is reuired of protective dogs which makes sense, but of those breeds that I mentioned are they all at least somewhat protective, and out of these breeds, which is the least head strong on average, I hope that helps some. I'm not sure that a 4lb dog can kill someone, but okay. Also I don't mean the dog biting me or being vicious, I mean like challenging the owner, every few months, because that's what the breed does, I mean some breeds are more dominant than others, right? more

Open Question: Why are there so many short haired dogs that come from Germany?

I live in Maine, USA and it's freezing here! It was -2 F when i got up this morning. It must get that cold in Germany. Boxers, daschunds (sp?) and dobermans get cold very easily and were originally bred in Germany. The Rottweiler has a bit more fur but is not what i would call protected from the cold by its fur. The German shepherd dog is the only German dog I can think of that could actually stay outdoors working all day in the winter without booties and a jacket. Anybody know why the Germans bred so many short haired dogs? more

Quick question, is it possible for pre-cum to go through boxers when the girl is wet? Also, if her period is due within a couple of days and it's light, that's an indication of spotting right? Open Question: How can I make my dog like her crate?

My 5 Month Old Boxer Puppy does not like her crate, she doesn't whine (she's very quite usually) while she's in the crate. But she doesn't like it either- I have to put her front two paws in for her them she reluctently goes in- she'll paw at the cage and sometimes pant. She eventually gives up and lays down. I'd like her to "like her crate"!! She has a nice pad in there (have tried removing it too- same affect). She has water and food and refuses to eat or drink. Maybe a blessing anyhow. She has plenty of room to move around- I even attached her smaller crate to the large one so she could go into that one... she seems to like it better... it's the one she came to us in. She'll just lay down in the little crate or not get in at all... I want to make sure i'm not doing anything wrong. We use to put her toys in the crate to lure her in but she would just "rescue" them from the crate one by one until they were all out. She has a brother that comes and visits he loves her crate and will hang out in it. We've tried to have them both in there but she just goes into the smaller crate and stays in there while he eats her food and looks happy to have such a lavish crate to hang out in. She stays in there before her walks, 4 times a day for about 30 minutes after she has eaten. Sometimes she has to stay in the for about 6 hours because I work from home but inevitably I have to run and do chores or meet a client. She doesn't go potty while she's in there. PLEASE HELP... I want me puppy to be happy and like her crate. Thanks more

2 boxers, 6 month old male and 5 year old female, both the same size are constantly nipping each other on the cheek. She walks for about 1 hour (her long walk of the day) and has at least 4 other walks of 15 to 30 minutes. it just started snowing here, I know to watch her on salted roads and sidewalks.... Resolved Question: My new puppy is sick?

I just purchased a Boxer puppy....she said he is 4 and a half weeks old.they were eating the canned purina puppy food and drinking warm milk or water. We as long as he isnt eating or has not just ate he is playful and happy....but when i feed him he throws up about 4 times and u can tell he just has a belly ache...when i went to petco they didnt have the purina can puppy food so i got the pedigree can puppy food instead.....could it be the change in food? I was just wondering because i have never heard of a puppy throwing up from a change in food.....maybe its because he is so tiny.....or maybe i'm feeding him too much...he eats about three fourths of a can a day.....and he is sooo little ....any thoughts? i will be going to the vet tomorrow but i am just curious and worried. i know i was thinking the same thing..that he was too young but she insisted that they are off the momma and ready to go yes i feed him 3/4 of a big can a day...now that i think about it he is being waaay overfed! more

Open Question: What do i do? I have no-where else to go?

I'm a 15 year old boy and i live with my big brother who is 21 years old. My mum and dad died when i was younger. I have been living with my Gran but she is getting really old and i've moved in with my big brother who has his own flat. I have been staying with him for about 3 weeks now. I have left school and i currently work for my big brother as he has a car valeting business. I really like it as i'm not really that clever, so i would find it hard to get a job as you need qualifications, its only me and him in the business.
