Open Question: How do You see the boxing future?
How do you see the future of boxing in these next years? I've started to feel a little.. lets say gloomy with great fighters of the sport leaving. The time is ending/has ended for greats like Roy Jones Jr, Floyd Mayweather Jr. retired for now, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins,Evander Holyfield, Barrera gone, Morales gone etc.. There are some good prospects, do you think they'll become great like these? I will always like boxing but do you think boxing will get better, worse, about the same in the future? moreVoting Question: what was your favorite boxing trilogy?
what is yall favorite boxing trilogy and tell me why? mine is barrera vs morales cause when they get in the ring it an all out war between them two. moreVoting Question: WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THE GREAT MANNY PACQUIAO?
OBVIOUSLY THE GREATEST FIGHTER EVER TO COME FROM THE EASTERN HEMISPHERE OF THE GLOBE, TWO-TIME FIGHTER OF THE YEAR (ABOUT TO BE), AND A GUY WHO HAD HUMILIATED EACH AND EVERY NOTABLE BOXING CRITIC AT LEAST TWICE. HE BEAT BARRERA, MORALES, AND MARQUEZ TWICE EACH(SUPPOSED TO BE, BUT THERE WAS A DUMB JUDGE IN THE 1ST JMM BOUT). OSCAR DIDN'T STAND A CHANCE. THE CRITICS WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG, THE FIGHT WAS A MISMATCH. HAHA. MAN, NO ONE CAN BEAT THIS GUY. ALL YOU CRITICS SHOULD JUST SHUT THE HELL UP. NO ONE CAN BEAT THE MEXICUTIONER: THE GREAT "PACMAN!" moreVoting Question: is fraud gayweather the best fighter in the past 25 years?
some idiot posted the other day that prettygirl fraud gayweather is the best fighter in the past 25 years...this kind of b/s makes me laugh...i could name over a dozen fighters that are way better than that fake wannabe thug...did floyd jr come from poverty?NO;his dad & uncle were the ones that came from poverty, floyd jr is a spoiled brat that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but this fraud acts all geto & trys to make the public think he had it hard..fraud gayweather was the most overated & hyped boxer in hbo history..the dumb younger generation drinking all that hbo koolaid into believing this wussy was a champ..gayweathers own words were that he respected what robinson & ali did for boxing but that he is the best of all time..this guy that got beat down by j.l.castillo & got a gift from the judges & started cherry picking opponents after that that only taking fights against washed up bums like gatti, baldomir.mithcell, judah,de la hoya,& fatton..and this fraud avoided the top current champs & that actually posed a real risk..floyd never unified the titles in any division,he would fight weakest link on the chain that had a belt..as for the past 25 years here are few names that were way better than that fruad gayweather & they were also fun & entertaining to watch..de la hoya,barrera,pacman,morales,j.c. chavez senior, marvin hagler, tommy hearns, ray leonard, roberto duran, mike tyson, gerald mcclellan,& many more...all the mayweather cheerleaders are just as fake as ther hero...fuq that wussy coward fraud gayweather...id bet williams, cotto, clottey, margarito,& cintron would beat that wussies azz moreResolved Question: Mexicans boxing fans - Are you backing up Oscar De La Hoya in his fight vs. Manny Pacquiao?
De La Hoya claims that this fight is personal since Pacquiao has beaten Mexican greats such as Morales, Barrera, and though through a very close decision, Marquez. However, I think the general sentiment that Mexican boxing fans have is that De La Hoya should have fought the Mexican Welterweight Champion - Antonio Margarito. De La Hoya has stated that his main reason of not fighting Margarito is that he is Mexican - though he did make an attempt to fight another Mexican, Sergio Mora. As Mexican boxing fans, what do you make of this, and are you really supporting De La Hoya in his upcoming fight? moreResolved Question: have anyone moved up in weight more in their boxing career more than manny pacquiao?
pacman will fight DLH at 147lbs max. although he can weigh in below the limit, his opponent might be on the limit, so the natural difference in weight is there. other facts: the first pacman fight i saw was his 7th fight at 106 lbs. after some exciting fights, he gradually moved up in weight until he won the WBC 112lbs division. he lost the title on the scales before being TKOd because of losing too much weight. obviously growing up fast, pacman immediately went up to 122lbs (by passing the 115 and 118 lbs) to win a fight in the philippines. he then won the IBF 112lbs title a few fights later. after beating barrera at 126lbs, we all know what happened to pacman's carreer. he fought at 130, 135. then now to 147lbs. that's 44 lbs since he started his career. more than 40% of his starting wt. and to think pacman is not really a tall boxer . (for comparason, i think barrera started at 115lbs at age 16) your definitely right with toney drunkard. my bad for pacman's weight differential. however, i've read that when toney played highschool football, he actually weighed near 200 lbs. so he is actually used to that weight. anyway, since i'm asking about boxing, i'll give it to toney for now. moreResolved Question: Would you guys consider making a real boxing game with real fighters and legends with real LV fight venues?
Have real weight classes and a women's divison (Women's pound for pound, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, Cruiserweight, and of course Heavyweight divisions.) What I mean by real fighters such as for the Women's (Laila Ali, Christy Martin, Lucia Rijker) and I'll name more later. Lightweights (Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morlales, Manny Pacquiao, Ray Mancini, Alexis Arguello) and I'll name more later. Welterweights (Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Hector Camacho, Pernell Whitaker, Meldrick Taylor) and I'll name more later. Middleweights (Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran) and I'll name more later. Cruiserweights (Roy Jones Jr, James Toney, Virgil Hill) and I'll name more later. Heavyweights (Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis) and I'll name more later. Real commentators (Jim Lampley, Ferdie Pacheco, Bobby Czyz) I'll name more later. Real fight venues (Caesars Palace, The Mirage, Mgm grand). moreResolved Question: Cotto-Margarito will probably be a great fight but will it be a great event?
Fights in the last decade have been classic fights but the only ones who know about them are the real boxing fans, fights that include:Marquez-Vazques, Morales-Barrera, Gatti-Ward, then ther are the fights that produce all the hype but not the fight like:Trinidad-De la hoya, De la hoya-Mayweather, Tyson-Lewis are not known for their fights but their event. When Miguel Cotto meets Antonio MArgarito it will be no doubt it will be a great fight, but will it be the hardcore boxing fans that watch it and the countries of mexico and puerto rico, or will it have stars and celebrities and be one of the rare occasions where the event will be equal to the fight. Whats your opinion on that?Great fight?Great Event? moreResolved Question: does anyone know where i can watch classic boxing matches?
i have been looking to watch classic boxing trilogies like gatti vs ward, barrera vs morales but i can not find any of them only little clips of them i want to see the full fights can anyone tell me where or how moreResolved Question: is pacman avoiding title defense against tough mexican boxers???
i have recently read in a boxing forum that manny pacquiao hasn't defended any title since 2003... because according to some (i believe they're mexicans), pacman is avoiding tough opponents such as juan diaz, miguel coto, etc.... haller???!!! the number 1 POUND FOR POUND boxer??? afraid??? have you taken a meal??? let me refresh your memories; 1. barrera 2. morales 3. vasquez 4. larios 5. marquez 6. diaz each of these mexicans took serious beatings! all floored!!! what's the point of defending a title to these people? they're weak! it would just be a waste of time! what are they after? the belt? COME ON!!! these weak opponents are only after a huge amount of money... HUGE CONSOLATION PRIZE after taking the beating from our 4 time WORLD CHAMPION! i'll tell you what... why don't you mexicans bring out zorro to fight pacman! MAYWEATHER! we want the best to fight the only the best! i may be dreaming... at 140 lbs? who knows?! PACMAN RULES!!!! moreResolved Question: Will Manny Pacquiao be the next world lightweight champ?
Dubbed "Republica Enemy No. 1," Pacquiao (46-3-2, 34 KOs), from General Santos City, Philippines, has blitzed through the best fighters Mexico has had to offer since 2003 including Erik Morales (KO 3, TKO 10), Marco Antonio Barrera (TKO 11, W 12), Juan Manuel Marquez (W 12, D 12), Oscar Larios (W 12), Emanuel Lucero (TKO 3), Hector Velazquez (TKO 6) and Jorge Solis (KO 8). Pacquiao was named 2006 Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America and The Ring magazine for his two spectacular knockout victories of Mexican icon and three-division champion Morales, as well as his dominating 12-round unanimous decision over former world champion Larios. The hard-hitting southpaw has won 22 of his last 23 bouts including 2007 victories over Barrera and Solis. Pacquiao’s 12-round split decision victory over Marquez earlier this year not only avenged a disputed draw from their 2004 battle, it also made Pacman a four-division world champion. Diaz (34-1-1, 17 KOs), from Chicago, will be making the second defense of his title. He successfully defended it against the three-division world champion Morales last summer winning a hard-fought unanimous decision over the future Hall of Famer. Although behind on the scorecards early, Diaz remained cool and rallied before the raucous hometown Chicago crowd of 10,000 to capture the decision. He swept the championship rounds and won the decision by scores of 114-113, 115-113 and 115-112. With the victory, Diaz cemented his place among the best lightweights in the sport and one of the most popular and respected athletes in the sports-crazy town of Chicago. A member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team, Diaz, with 12 years of experience as a professional, is more than prepared to handle the pressures that come with battling boxing’s pound-for-pound most exciting fighter. moreResolved Question: What do you think about this list that show the best 25 hispanic boxers in history?

I know JMM is a great defensive fighter but what exactly has he done with his career? Other than being 0-1-1 against Pac, He has close victory over an older Barrera. He has loses to Peden and John. i mean does it matter in pacquiao's case!? I dont understand why people can't appreciate manny's victory over his opponents. They will usually make up some things just to make and excuse like manny beat them because they are old and passed their primes like morales marquez, barrera and etc THATS NONSENSE.! boxing is about skill and the power the person holds within. look at the past weeks/days. GRANDPA casamayor schooled the unbeaten wbo champ katsidis and GRANDAPA campbell schooled the unbeaten wbc, wbo, ibf champ juan diaz. what do you think guys!?!! MANNY IN LIGHTWEIGHT IS COMING.......... moreResolved Question: Thoughts about Juan Marquez and Manny Pacquiao's fight, aftermath?
Ok first of all, it was a tactical fight- I have to say that Manny lost his tactics after his cut but Marquez still fought hard after he was floored, he almost got knocked out again staggering after a Pacquiao's evade and counter, he should have gave some combinations, I agree with Freddy Roach him saying "he was more disciplined in training than tonight" I hope he'll be at his best in his next fight; this fight something was missing in the young Pac-Man, Marquez fought a strong fight. I thought it was going to be a draw again and I was a little surprised that Manny won, and I am wondering.. is boxing the sport where the victor wins by making an opponent hit the canvas or by surviving the fight even though the boxer was knocked out but is able to still land punches, I would like to have another rematch just like Barrera's before his advance to the 135 & I am not sure about his advance, Manny escaped an 'edgy' win but he wasn't knocked out & that was his key. What are your thoughts? moreResolved Question: ESPN's Top 10 Boxing Trilogies?
I agree with these 10 Trilogies that ESPN listed. Do you? Here is the list: 1. Ali vs Frazier 2. Zale vs Graziano 3. Morales vs Barrera 4. Ross vs McLarnin 5. Griffith vs Peret 6. Patterson vs Johannson 7. Ali vs Norton 8. Bowe vs Holyfield 9. Carbajal vs Gonzalez 10. Gatti vs Ward I would add these two fights in the list and replace two out of the list with: Marquez vs Vasquez and Pacquaio vs Morales Any Thoughts? moreResolved Question: any true boxing fans need to look at this web site?

For fighters as skilled and popular as Marquez and Pacquiao there is no longer a need to wear a champion's belt. They are nice, albeit a bit gaudy, but they are not necessary because they have each other and they have Marco Antonio Barrera and they have reputations for the one thing that matters these days in boxing. When they come into the ring a fight is going to break out. Guaranteed. moreResolved Question: The State of Boxing in Three to Five years from Now?????
I'm a little worried about the sport in the next few years. Right now we have a bunch of great champions who are realtively popular at least in the boxing circle. But a lot of them are in their thirties and should be retiring soon. They include Shane Mosley, Oscar Delahoya, Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright, Juan Manuel Marquez, Rafael Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Floyd Mayweather, Roy Jones, Antonio Tarver, Klitschko, Hatton etc Shoot even the younger guys like Pacquaio, Pavilik, Cotto and Taylor have a good chance of retiring in a few years. My question is do you think the young guys that are working there way up the ladder now will be able to fill the void that will eventually come?? Who in particular?? Personally I think not, but time will tell. I know boxing will always be around. I just hope boxing as a whole won't end up like the Heavyweight divsion, boring and in trouble.. moreResolved Question: Philippines' Manny Pacquiao promoted to master sergeant?
Do you agree with the promotion of Pacquiao? Do you think he deserves it just because he won against Barrera in a boxing match? What else can you say about him? Seriously answer, please... moreResolved Question: Is Prince Naseem Hamed a Hall of Famer?
I saw this article on espn.com and just wanted to get some of your feedback on this. Take a look at it and tell me what you think. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3062818 Even though Hamed had a good record, i'm kinda leery about him being in the boxing Hall of Fame because he lost badly to Barrera and then retired and never came back to fight the likes of Morrales, Marquez, or Pacquiao. What's your take on this? Big Nate, you make a good case about Norton, but he did beat arguably the greatest fighter of all time in Ali once and lost 2 highly disputed decisions to him. On the other hand, he lost a very close decision to hall of famer Holmes and got destroyed by hall of famer Foreman in 2 rounds, so i do see where you're comin from about Kenny, but Hamed never even came close to beating a great fighter or a hall of famer, and the first time he really stepped up in class against Barrera, he got beaten soundly. moreResolved Question: Barrera's boxing short - why is it named Tapia?

Omg this is another one exciting moment in boxing! although I have no cable, it still is exciting! I bet a dollar for Manny! 1\ Who do you think will win? Barrera or Pacquiao? Respects for the both sides! 2\ Another question I have is, that isn't he fighting a different person? the boxer who defeated his brother? because I have asked my mexican classmates about the fight and they said another name that I think it starts with the letter "M" it sure didn't sound like barrera though and im a bit suprised that hes facing off to him (not to barrera but how it suprised me, I thought he was challenging another guy or the guy who defeated his brother, Bobby Pacquiao)....so this is my 2nd question, all stars goes to the person who answer this question of mine! moreResolved Question: BOXING: Who do you think will win the match? I used to love boxing now everyone picks and chooses instead of fighting good opponents. take Mayweather, never fought Barrera, Pacquiao, or Moralles. Judah got beat by every good oponnent he faced. I can only think of one good fighter Hatton has faced. It is just for money now not pride of saying you are really the best. This is just my oponion. Think about it. Look at dela hoya lost against quite a few good fighters, yet people always talk about how good he is. moreResolved Question: Which Upcoming Boxing Fight is More Worth Watching?
These are all PPV events and as most people, don't have the $$$'s to buy all. Here is my opinion of each event in no order: 1. Taylor vs. Pavlik - both fighters, the champ and the slugger respectively, are not only at the prime stage of their careers, but also undeafeted and with something to prove since they are facing the toughest competition of their entire career! 2. Barrera vs. Paquiao - Paquiao is always an exciting fighter to watch and I know that Barrera will fight his heart out for not only revenge but also the pride of all Mexican fighters! 3. Mayorga vs. Vargas - though both fighters are suspect, we can all expect that this will be a slugfest, mano a mano, with one of these fighters ending the night on the floor! 4. Mayweather vs. Hatton - the Pound for Pound King will be facing the pride of England in Hatton. The conclusion will definetely be determined, first by hand speed something both fighters have, and power, something only Hatton has. Hi I am a Filipino and a boxing fan. I have been a Barrera(mexican) fan long before Paqiuao(Filipino) even got famous. Whenever theres a fight featuring Pacman vs any foreign fighter, we, Filipinos would always make it seem like a battle between Philippines vs the world. Well most of us at least. It is in fights like these that I hear/ heard of some of the worst racial criticisms ever mentioned to my ears against a human being. I know that not all of us are like this but I am forever ashamed of my nationality because of what I heard. Why do we have do discriminate the other fighter when he is not fighting against a country but just against his opponent? We are not perfect ourselves. Its good to be prestigious but not in a way like this. This is a shout out to you all to please treat sport as a sport and not as a war. Cheer for your country men but please have respect to the sport. Thank you for your time. moreResolved Question: FOR BOXING FANS WHO WATCHED BOTH FIGHTERS!!! With all the so called/self proclaimed great boxers around at the moment/recent History. I thought it would be interesting to compare them to one of my favourite era's of boxing the 80's. Below I have matched up 2 boxers from each era from most divisions to see how they fare, let me know what you think. The 80's wins by some distance for me. Heavyweight Larry Holmes v Lennox Lewis (Lewis) Mike Tyson v Vitali Klitschko (Tyson) Cruiserweight Evander Holyfield ( No current competition) L.Heavyweight Michael Spinks Vs Roy Jones Jnr (Spinks just) Virgil Hill Vs Antonio Tarver (Hill) S.Middleweight Joe Calzaghe (No 80's competition) Middleweight Marvin Hagler vs Bernard Hopkins (Hagler) Michael Nunn vs Jermain Taylor (Nunn) L.Middle Thomas Hearns vs Felix Trinidad (Hearns) Mike McCallum vs Ronald 'Winky' Wright (McCallum) Welterweight Sugar Ray Leonard vs Oscar De La Hoya (Sugar Ray) Donald Curry vs Shane Mosley (Curry) L.Welter Aaron Pryor vs Ricky Hatton (Pryor) Hector Camacho vs Miguel Angel Cotto (Camacho) Lightweight Alexis Arguello vs Diego Corrales (Arguello) Pernell Whitaker vs Floyd Mayweather Jnr (Whitaker Just) S.Feather Julio Cesar Chavez vs Marco Antonio Barrera (Chavez) Azumah Nelson vs Manny Pacquiao (Nelson) Featherweight Salvador Sanchez vs Erik Morales (Sanchez) Eusebio Pedroza vs Juan Manual Marquez (Pedroza) S.Bantam Wilfredo Gomez vs Rafael Marquez (Gomez) So as you see 80's by a landslide. Americans have excellent hand-eye coordination. Americans dominate all sports that involve the hands. But soccer no. Americans have great speed but no dribble ability and no foot creativty. But look at fighting sports Americans dominate every single fight sport. Look at UFC put some Mexican boxer like Antonio Barrera against Randy Couture. Randy Couture would destroy him in minautes. Basketball all the talented guys are American. The Europeans players are too weak to challenge the guys in the inside. Pau Gasol is the only European player who can play in the inside paint. But he is no KG or Tim Duncan. Boxing Americans dominate so easily. Floyd Mayweather best boxer in the world. Ice hockey USA dominates cause they got that guy from the Chicago Blackhawks. USA Dominates baseball, tennis yes Roddick is the best player in the world, Roman greco wrestling, auto racing, NASCAR is way superior to F1. USA only plays baseball? why is 30% of the MLB from overseas? More European players in the NHL than American players. But still USA have very good records against the Europeans. pretty much raz every thing you mention is false. expect for the basketball part. UFC is going downhill? dumbass its the fastest growing sport in the world. Boxing is going downhill cause its inferior to real fighting. moreResolved Question: Golden Boy and Top Rank have settled their feud, will boxing benefit from it?
Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank Promotons have dropped all lawsuits against each other and will now be working together. This may open the door to some great fights. It's already starting with the rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera on Oct. 6th of this year. Is this the shot in the arm that boxing could use right now? With fighters like Shane Mosley, Barrera, and Juan Manuel Marquez being promoted by Golden Boy, and fighters like Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and Erik Morrales, among others, being promoted by Top Rank, we could be in for some great fights if these two companies work together. What's your thoughts on this? moreResolved Question: Pacquiao VS Barrera II... Does it still has the hype? Now that it is finally set on Oct.6?
The rematch between Pacquiao, honored as 2006 Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America recently, and Barrera, a former three-division world champion, is set on Oct. 6 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The bout was forged after Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions formalized their amicable settlement on Friday. Golden Boy chief executive officer Richard Schaefer and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum agreed to settle their promotional differences through the mediation of Daniel Weinstein in Las Vegas. After Barrera lost his crown to Marquez.. There's nothing to loose for Barrera come "Pacquiao-Barrera II". Don't you think that it is better to put up a rematch against the best fighters of their division "Pacquiao-MArquez II". What do you think will be the outcome of the "Pacquiao-Barrera II". Would it be a sweet revenge for Barrera or a deep pit downfall just as that of Morales' previous loss to Pacquiao? moreResolved Question: Finally! A freakin boxing event worth watching!?

Why is they happenning?
Granted I know boxing has had history of bogus and fixed fights for many reasons but I think one both of these fights were a fix. 1. Vernon Forrest vs. Carlos Baldomir, 12 rounds, for vacant interim WBC junior middleweight title. I think this fight is a boring no body will not even see le along it should be for a interim title. Forrest has not fought since when?? And Baldomir is just enjoying 15 min fame I do not see him as a top fighter but more of a club fighter who got lucky. 2. Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Jorge Barrios, 12 rounds, for Marquez's WBC junior lightweight title. What happened to rematch clause that Barrera had??? Bogus management deal! I smell that one from miles away! Any other thoughts? Excuse me I think both were fixed. moreTop Barrera Boxing Links
