However, I think the general sentiment that Mexican boxing fans have is that De La Hoya should have fought the Mexican Welterweight Champion - Antonio Margarito. Resolved Question: have anyone moved up in weight more in their boxing career more than manny pacquiao?

pacman will fight DLH at 147lbs max. although he can weigh in below the limit, his opponent might be on the limit, so the natural difference in weight is there. other facts: the first pacman fight i saw was his 7th fight at 106 lbs. after some exciting fights, he gradually moved up in weight until he won the WBC 112lbs division. he lost the title on the scales before being TKOd because of losing too much weight. obviously growing up fast, pacman immediately went up to 122lbs (by passing the 115 and 118 lbs) to win a fight in the philippines. he then won the IBF 112lbs title a few fights later. after beating barrera at 126lbs, we all know what happened to pacman's carreer. he fought at 130, 135. then now to 147lbs. that's 44 lbs since he started his career. more than 40% of his starting wt. and to think pacman is not really a tall boxer . (for comparason, i think barrera started at 115lbs at age 16) your definitely right with toney drunkard. my bad for pacman's weight differential. however, i've read that when toney played highschool football, he actually weighed near 200 lbs. so he is actually used to that weight. anyway, since i'm asking about boxing, i'll give it to toney for now. more

Resolved Question: Thoughts about Juan Marquez and Manny Pacquiao's fight, aftermath?

Ok first of all, it was a tactical fight- I have to say that Manny lost his tactics after his cut but Marquez still fought hard after he was floored, he almost got knocked out again staggering after a Pacquiao's evade and counter, he should have gave some combinations, I agree with Freddy Roach him saying "he was more disciplined in training than tonight" I hope he'll be at his best in his next fight; this fight something was missing in the young Pac-Man, Marquez fought a strong fight. I'm a little worried about the sport in the next few years. Right now we have a bunch of great champions who are realtively popular at least in the boxing circle. But a lot of them are in their thirties and should be retiring soon. I used to love boxing now everyone picks and chooses instead of fighting good opponents. take Mayweather, never fought Barrera, Pacquiao, or Moralles. Judah got beat by every good oponnent he faced. I can only think of one good fighter Hatton has faced. It is just for money now not pride of saying you are really the best. This is just my oponion. Think about it. These are all PPV events and as most people, don't have the $$$'s to buy all. Here is my opinion of each event in no order: 1. Taylor vs. Pavlik - both fighters, the champ and the slugger respectively, are not only at the prime stage of their careers, but also undeafeted and with something to prove since they are facing the toughest competition of their entire career! 2. Barrera vs. Paquiao - Paquiao is always an exciting fighter to watch and I know that Barrera will fight his heart out for not only revenge but also the pride of all Mexican fighters! 3. Mayorga vs. Vargas - though both fighters are suspect, we can all expect that this will be a slugfest, mano a mano, with one of these fighters ending the night on the floor! 4. Mayweather vs. Hatton - the Pound for Pound King will be facing the pride of England in Hatton. The conclusion will definetely be determined, first by hand speed something both fighters have, and power, something only Hatton has. What do you think? more

Hi I am a Filipino and a boxing fan. I have been a Barrera(mexican) fan long before Paqiuao(Filipino) even got famous. Whenever theres a fight featuring Pacman vs any foreign fighter, we, Filipinos would always make it seem like a battle between Philippines vs the world. Well most of us at least. It is in fights like these that I hear/ heard of some of the worst racial criticisms ever mentioned to my ears against a human being. I know that not all of us are like this but I am forever ashamed of my nationality because of what I heard. Why do we have do discriminate the other fighter when he is not fighting against a country but just against his opponent? We are not perfect ourselves. Its good to be prestigious but not in a way like this. This is a shout out to you all to please treat sport as a sport and not as a war. Cheer for your country men but please have respect to the sport. Thank you for your time. more

But look at fighting sports Americans dominate every single fight sport. Look at UFC put some Mexican boxer like Antonio Barrera against Randy Couture. Randy Couture would destroy him in minautes. Basketball all the talented guys are American. The Europeans players are too weak to challenge the guys in the inside. Pau Gasol is the only European player who can play in the inside paint. But he is no KG or Tim Duncan. Boxing Americans dominate so easily. Floyd Mayweather best boxer in the world. Ice hockey USA dominates cause they got that guy from the Chicago Blackhawks. USA Dominates baseball, tennis yes Roddick is the best player in the world, Roman greco wrestling, auto racing, NASCAR is way superior to F1. USA only plays baseball? why is 30% of the MLB from overseas? More European players in the NHL than American players. Granted I know boxing has had history of bogus and fixed fights for many reasons but I think one both of these fights were a fix. 1. Vernon Forrest vs. Carlos Baldomir, 12 rounds, for vacant interim WBC junior middleweight title. I think this fight is a boring no body will not even see le along it should be for a interim title. Forrest has not fought since when?? And Baldomir is just enjoying 15 min fame I do not see him as a top fighter but more of a club fighter who got lucky. 2. Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Jorge Barrios, 12 rounds, for Marquez's WBC junior lightweight title. What happened to rematch clause that Barrera had??? Bogus management deal!
