Voting Question: What do yall think of this idea? A NCAA Football Tournament!?

You give every Division 1-A conference a championship game, then give the conference winners an automatic bid like in college basketball. That gives you 12 teams. Then have 12 at-large bids also like college basketball and have the 24 teams play it out for the National Championship. Then the bowl games can be like NIT games. This makes it fair and teams can still be awarded for their regular season accomplishments. I know that will probably never happen in this lifetime, but what do you guys think? more

I'm in high school and before you give me some BS statements like: "You're to young to understand" or " You need to take a government class"; know that I'm not to young to understand the importance of this election or the fact that our country is going down the drain, and I'm in a AP American History class in case your questioning my intelligence. Anyways I was actually excited about this year’s elections. It was cool to see teenagers actually care about the elections. Last time I wouldn’t have even known who the candidates were (besides the obvious Bush) except for the fact that my dad loves politics. Normally many teens wouldn’t really care seeing as we can’t vote but this election is different. But, I now find it sad that these elections have become more of a popularity contest than an election. And maybe that’s how all elections are but I still find it disheartening. There are so many issues to talk about and the media chooses to instead nit pick the candidate’s words for hidden meanings and dig into the candidate’s personal families and lives. It’s as if people are choosing a Prom King instead of a President. Now I’m personally a democrat but I think this “popularity” thing goes on both sides. I see glittery Barack Obama t-shirts all the time and now I see “Palin’s hott!” buttons. I don’t care if the VP’s hot or if the candidate is good at basketball. I want a President who’s going to make it more affordable for me to go to college so I’m not bombarded with loans and debt the minute I graduate. I want a President who’s going to this make this country better so I don’t end up paying for his failures when I’m older. So, I wanted to know if all elections are like this. And please don’t say “You need to learn about ….” or “You don’t understand….” If you’re going to say that then at least explain it to me. I want to know! Can’t you at least be glad that teens actually care about their government? Many people say we’re the dumbest generation so isn’t refreshing that teens actually take time away from MTV & video games or whatever it is people stereo-type us as doing, to get involved in history. Resolved Question: Does a landlord have the right to tell a tenant to remove a basketball goal from the driveway if it is not...?

in the lease? Our landlord is really nit-picky. Unfortuantely we signed a year lease. She has demanded children not ride the bikes in the yard, only in the streets and now wants the basketball goal removed from the driveway. Nowhere in our lease does it say that basketball goals are not allowed or that kids can't ride their bikes in the yard. Do we have to remove the basketball goal and send our kids (ages 9, 7, &4) into the sterets with their bikes? Why would I have kids riding bikes in the yard? This is a rural area. It's normal here. Kid's here don't normally run around like hooligans up and down the street. I also forgot to mention that the landloard said okay for the goal providing it stays on the driveway (not in the yard). I really wish I knew how to give you a picture of our lawn. It's mostly weeds, clover, and about 1/3 nothing but dirt. We've put seed down with no result. The yard is bad, but was that way when we moved in 3 months ago. We have no sidewalks here. We aren't talking stunt bikes, etc (2 of them still have training wheels). The basketball goal is free standing so I cannot see how it does any damage to the property. It just seems like she got us to take the bait, sign the lease, adn now wants to make us miserable and nit pick everything. more

Resolved Question: WVU's coaching situation: A couple questions...?

1) Last year Michigan hired WVU's basketball coach John Beilein after the entire season was done including the NCAA and NIT Championship. Even though Coach Beilein had a 2.5 million dollar buyout clause in his WVU contract, WVU only made him pay 1.5 to the WVU Foundation. Now Michigan has stolen away Rich Rodriguez at a very bad time for WVU (Right before a BCS bowl game with Oklahoma and during the prime recruiting period for colleges). Coach Rodriguez has a 4 million dollar buyout clause in his WVU contract. Do you think WVU should get their full 4 million from Coach Rodriguez? If not, how much should WVU agree too? 2) Best new coach for WVU? Who do you think would be a good choice? Personally I think the current WVU Offensive Coordinator. He knows Rich Rodriguez's spread offense backwards and forwards. Also, he went on a lot of recruiting trips with Coach Rodriguez so the players might still come to WVU. AND...just a thought, he is African American..big statement? The Real Napster - Yeah, funny. If it wasn't for WVU's offense playing so bad against Pitt this year (mental mistakes and letting the game go by them), you'd be crying in your beer right now. And we'll let McCoy run all over us...still didn't score any touchdowns. Find it funny how no one wants Wennstadt...probably because he's a horrid coach...no, that would be a definite. Not a probably. BulldogB - Personally, I hope not...or at least not until the season is over. Let me clarify. I would be upset, but not as upset if he did this AFTER the bowl games (started talking to Michigan, etc.). Doing it now AND not talking to the WVU Athletic Director was classless. I believe there should be an NCAA rule that states that Coaches can not approach or be approached by other schools until after the school they are coaching for's season is over. Personally I hope it's not Brian Kelly, not because he's not a really good coach, he is, but because I don't want to hurt another Big East team. The major successful programs that tend to be consistent top 20 team want you but do not make any playing time guarantees: Other programs like some less successful programs but still division I that sometime get into NCAA tournament but are more likely NIT type teams if they have good seasons are clamoring over you and guarantee you a starting spot and major playing time. Where would you go? Experts tell you if you work hard and prove yourself, they could see being a late first rounder or early secound rounder in NBA draft in 3 years. more

Resolved Question: how do they change the logo on NBA courts to accomidate other organizations like the olympics or WNBA?

Like the pictures which appear to be painted within the sealer of the wood floor. Pictures of mascots or the name of the team, how do they change that to be applicable to the team which might be playing there in the off season of the actual home team or organization. For example the Charlotte Hornets always had a beehive type design on the floor, but when someone new came to town for a bennefit like the globe trotters, the bee hive would be gone, how do they do that? Another example would be the "Final Four" in college basketball or the NIT tourney. more

I think Duke has the rudest fans. In March 2006, I went to a basketball game when Wake Forest played Duke. Duke fans were screaming NIT for Wake. I play basketball, and I hurt my left pinkie with the ball. My left pinkie, from the middle joint down is BLOWN like a blowfish. It's like, half the joint is regular, and the other half down is STRAIGHT down swelled up. It is TWICE the size of my other finger, and it HURTS like hell! When I touch it, it feels really hard, and stuff. When i try to bend it a LITTLE nit, it hurts. Also, it is a little bit purple and blue on the joint part. Is there any way I can Do to make the swelling go down, and not hurt as much, before tomorrow after school? Because I have another game. Also, should I put bengay on it?
